Status: offline 		Resolution? Did you mean travel arc? The 5995 travels 180 degrees end to end while the 5955 travels 120 degrees.

Status: offline 		Byb reslotion I ment are the steps that the servo moves in spread out futher to go 180, insted of 120 degres. I am asking because I was sent a 5995 insted of a 5955 that I intended to use in aH9 33% edge 540 for rudder. An was wondering if there were any serious proformance issues between the two.

Status: offline 		Performance wise there is no difference. The 5995 has factory burned parameters that allow 180 degrees rotation. If you limit ATV percentages you will realize less steps of resolution as with any servo used. If a Hitec programmer is available this can be eliminated by matching the servo end-points to the model need and retaining full servo resolution with MAX ATV settings. These are the only programmable servos in the market with this capability.

Status: offline 		Mike, I had a discussion with a futaba sponsered pilot on another site regarding the 5995's. Someone had setup his plane with 1 5995 on the rudder and while flying noticed the tail wagging, he switched to another (non-programmable servo) and it stopped. I suggested they reset the deadband to 1 with the programmer. From what I understand the 5995's (robot servos) have a softer deadband setting from the factory, is this correct. Also, if using just ATV to limit travel in this servo would it not result in poor resolution?

Status: offline 		As far as I know all Hitec Digitals are loaded with the same software parameters. Less the 5995’s 180 degree rotation limits. I’ll see if I can verify same.

As received from Hitec dead-band settings are 2:9. So 1:9 is an option. I’d be surprised if this solved the problem.

Wagging Hmmm. Maybe the power supply is inadequate under load? Analogs require less power… Cycle the connectors; is the linkage hard connected or pull-pull?

ATV limitation will cost you resolution of any servo brand or type. And yes I would venture its more costly with a 5995 @ 180*. Best case might be to maximize the servo linkage geometry and take advantage of as much of the travel as possible.

I forgot that there were some early 5995's that were reported to oscillate when a preload was introduced. I'd recommend the owner return the 5995 servo to Hitec Service with a description of the problem for an inspection.
