Hi all,

I am after some feedback on the new CRRC pro GF45i? This engine is new here in australia and I was looking at fitting on up to my WM extra. One guy at my club has one in a wild hare edge and it seems to run fine but his flight time has been limited. I am after info on props used and realiablity, tunning issues etc.

Bigsport, do you have a website for this engine and manufacturer? I don't think I've ever heard of it.

Have a look here:

http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/GF45i+Petrol+Engine-5160.htm

They are new on the market here in australia, not sure how long they've been selling else where. The are selling for about $600 AUD with inverted pitts muffler here. The one at my club is currently swinging a bolly carbon 20x10 at 7200rpm, and its only had about 4 tanks of gas through it. They look the goods I'm just concerned about realiability and after sale service etc.

I'm also interrested in this engine as a cheap entry into gas engines. I'll bump this thread to see if anyone has had more experience now.

Thanks.

HI All,

I have one GF45I currently running on a stand to finish break-in.
It was advertise here on RCU:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_2403088/anchors_2403088/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#2403088

I have only 1 hour of running and it's working great, i'm using now 1:25 mixture so it's very rich.
Spining 20x8 with ease, I think it's over 7000 but I will tach it today, overall seems very nice, idle very low, throttle transition is very quick at this mixture.

TBM will have them too:

http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/EngGF45i.htm

I spoke to the manufacture and he gave me full support, I bought it in Israel and I can get spare parts if there is need (not in stock, I have the pdf file of the parts)
No problems with tunning or anything else.

bigsport,
I would like to know how it's pulling the WH Edge, 7200 on 20x10 is very good.
I think it can handle a 22x8 after finish break-in, tbm says 21x8.

Well, I got my new tachometer today and after 3 hours of running I got 9200 rpm with zinger pro 20x8 at 1:25 mixture.

Tooly,

20*8@9200 should be about 6 or 7 HP!!

Are you sure your tach is right??

I measured that a few times and that's what I got, and it also sound like high rpm.
One thing i can say, the engine has no problem at all to spin this prop, throttle transition from idle to full is immediately.
The tachometer is ok too.

I like the power of this engine. It hovers my mates WH edge at half throttle. What concerns me is the reliablity of the engine and if it is posible to set and forget the needles. My mate was running 25:1 oil ratio and it sounded sick. So we pulled the plug and it was all fouled up. So we cleaned the plug and put some of the 40:1 fuel I run in my zenoah and retuned it. It ran better but still a little off. I think maybe the bottom end was a little rich, also I think some problems are comming from the side mounted carb hanging out in the breeze. I'm not sure if he is going to continue using the motor or pull it off. I may get it off him if he does take it out. Maybe a few mods will havi it running better!!!!!

Mine runs great, with almost 1:20 and hotter plug is also make the plug dirty, so I closed the low needle 1/4 turn and was much better.
I have now more than 3 hours of running, so next time I will test with 1:32 mixture.
You know the weight of your mate's WH ?

About 16lbs I think. He has now pulled the motor out as he is fed up with it. Not sure why he pulled it out it seemed to be running ok after we changed fuel and tuned it. I might make him an offer on it and put it in my extra.

Has anyone had any drama's with it running backwards? I know my mates does occasionally fire and run backwards......

Yeah sometimes when you flick it, it bounces back off compression as it fires so it begins to run backwards. You just stop it and start try it again. Have you put the engine in an aeroplane and flown it yet??
