I have completed the review (1/3/01) on the Dymond Super Turbo and have submitted to R/C Report for publication. Review scheduled to appear in April Issue (mailed mid/late Feb) tentatively. I found the unit to perform as advertised except for the discharge rates. While 5 amps is claimed it will not discharge any higher than 3 amps. Charge rate is limited to 90 watts so it will not charge anything above 13 cells at this the published rate of 5 amps. Not a big deal to most of us. They have a glitch in some of the first production units (including the review unit) that locks up in auto mode where discharge is selected, and will not go to charge after discharge, or shut down after discharge. The discharge is terminated, capacity recorded but fan keeps running until manual shut down. The say they have fixed this minor problem. Auto mode is not well suited for smaller park flyer pack 110 mAh - 250 mAh - input is just too severe. Auto mode for larger packs is quite benign. Decent instructions. Things I liked were the programmable trickle after fast charge, selectable peak cut off resolution for both Ni-Cd and Ni-MH. Programmable charge limit input, and thermal attachment good for "unknown" packs. There has been some concern expressed by some that the inability to set the cell count to establish a cut off voltage on discharge. It appears from the testing done that this discharge cutoff voltage is established as a function of the voltage at some point in the discharge curve. It does take the pack well down so that you get a firm and repeatable capacity reading. Reversal should not be a problem unless cells in a pack are significantly unbalanced. All in all I found the unit to be a good value for the money. I will be glad to answer any specific questions on the unit or exchange information with other users.
