may I ask what you guys mean by 5.0? It won`t click in my mind!
But anywho I was riding my truck today in this little track i made in my sand box.
I was flipping, burning out, pulling wheelies, taking jumps and all that. My truck died with little gas left because it was upside down for too long. I let it cool down for about 3 hours went to go start it up again and it would die unless I kept it out of idle speed!
I figured it was not getting eneugh air intake so i cleaned my air filter and it was still being a pain in tha @&&...
what did I do?

It means 5cc motor. The stock DTX .18 motor equals 3cc.

IMO aluminum never makes for good spur gears. It''s too soft and it does not flex and bend back like most steels will. As for the CB, dunno; may have something to do with the spur gear wearing down and loosening the mesh while you are running it.

ok so im guessing by u saying 5.0 u are talkin in CC so that equates to .30 cubic inches, so its a .30 motor correct? Collari? OS?

I can tell u now that u wont even get the motor to fit into the small block motor mount, big block dimensions are way to large, i can go take a pic of my 4 remaining big blocks showing that it wont fit onto the small block mount, width wise or length.

Also how did u get the 2 bolts in may i ask? Seeing that the mounting tabs on the big block are longer length wise, so it wont line up with the motor mount, neither will it line up width wise as BB dimensions are wider than SB. The only way you have fitted a big block into the evader is if u modified a big block motor mount into the car, like i have with my big block jato.

do u think having the diff or spurr gear to tight may be the cause???

Having the diff too tight will cause the diff gear to melt (if it''s plastic) or warp the bearing holes (if it''s aluminum). If the spur gear is too tight it might cause it to break if you were jumping the truck and landing it while holding the thottle down. Fast spinning wheels in the air coming down and hitting the ground would certainly put a strain on the spur gear if it wont slip.
But lets not forget that the original nitro evader series came with an aluminum CB. I still have mine, worn down in about 3 tanks of fuel of easy driving.

You''re saying you wore down your clutch bell in 3 tanks of easy driving? What are you doing, pouring sand through it? I don''t even see how that''s possible.

I''ve had my evader for three years now; on my second engine (went with a stock replacement). Still running the original CB and a basic plastic BX spur gear. I honestly haven''t had a single issue with the spur gear, though I definately went with the alum gears in the diff. My diff was the first thing to go in that truck; was surprised how quickly it came apart.

I honestly hated the evader when I first purchased it, but now it''s proving far more enjoyable. It''s home is at a track, and it''s NOT a basher. I haven''t read the whole thread so I don''t know how new you are to the vehicle, but if you haven''t upgraded the following already, I highly recommmend you do: Alum brake nut, hardened alum diff gears, metal gear steering servo. Those items were what I killed ALL the time originally. It was always the steering servo or that plastic brake nut; would get rounded off and doesn''t allow the truck to stop.
