go to bat with our funds to secure or find us flying fields?? I would think it would be in the best interest for a organization that rely's on modelers to get involved it local disputes over the right to have a flying field so that the number of modelers increase. To me that makes my dues seam like it's working for my interests. Am I way off base here?

I couldn't really tell if your post was pro or con AMA. Of course that's because I don't really know what they are doing nowadays.
I first joined in 1956 and at that time they were a completely service oriented organization. They helped in securing flying fields, organizing clubs, encouraging young people to come into the hobby, etc.
Somewhere about the late 60's/ early 70's, things had changed quite a lot. When they made their insurance secondary carrier I had enough. I haven't had a membership since. I see a lot of negative posts regarding the AMA and I guess it isn't back in the hands of the modelers yet. If it reverted back to the old AMA, I would join immediately.
