It's nice to see Hanger 9 is working hard to make the P-47 a success. The last thing they want is to be bashed here on RCU about their product.

I saw some doubts on the G-26, I'll bet once fully broken in that it would fly just fine. I've flown a GSP FW190 at 13 lbs and it was a rocket, even torque rolled it. The bolt has more wing area than the FW ( 1164 sq" vs 827 sq" ) giving the bolt a lower wingloading than the FW. At 17 lbs the bolt is 33.6 oz. per sq' and the FW calculates to 36.2 oz. per sq'. That's a 'worse case scenario' for "out of the box" build for the weight assuming the H9 guys are correct.

The key is it needs to be broken in, the stock muffler goes in the trash and you prop with more pitch. My guess is that it will fly well enough to do all standard warbird manuevers. I'm sure more power will make it fly 'better' all depends on what you want.

Has there been any problems with the 60 size ? I'm curious as I have flown a friend's a few times with an OS1.20 and it really groves nice, seem to be built very well too. I found the Corsair to be too fidgety and never really tracked well, especially with a little wind. The Mustang has been a great flyer and very dependable.

Sorry for the delay on this release guys. It will be mid-febish now. It is a complex model to produce and were making sure everything is very high quality on this one. Its taking a little longer tnan we hoped to do so, but were there now. They should be shipping from our factory within a few weeks. It'll be good, but I understand the frustration on the wait. I feel the same way from both a business and a personal perspective. I was hopeing to get one put together before New Years as well.

I like the "NO WINE BEFORE IT'S TIME" attitude!!! No manufacturer today can afford to produce a sub-standard product.

Mike,

Thank you for the follow-up. I appreciate H9 being up-front with us. That orientation to the customer and the commitment to a high quality product is refreshing.

Since you have some experience with this model, in your personal opinion, do you think a retractable tail wheel is doable?

Thanks again!

Yes. We havent put a retractable tw in one, but there is adequate space to do it I think.

I wish to join the rest of the members of this thread thanking you Mike for your involvement both in the engineering of the P-47, but also contributing to this thread.

S1,
I have built and am flying the 60 size Hangar 9 P-47, and am very happy with it. It looks and flies great. I haven't heard of any significant problems.

I should be test flying my .60 P-47 this weekend....using an Evol. .61 engine with the stock muffler! That should be interesting

Hey Jerry, the Evolution 61 engine should be a nice match to the 60 size H9 Thunderbolt, we flew our test model with a Saito 82 and it had plenty of power.
cheers,
GY

I just picked up that issue.....you still have the Big one? I can't wait to get mine

For the small one, I opened up the firewall to let the stock muffler fit! I hope that doesn't overheat or leak too much.

By the way, the current issue's cover doesn't do the plane justice (Just my humble opinion)

I'm going nuts, waiting for this fighter, so I'm starting to order goodies for it. I haven't decided how to do it yet, so I won't order a retractiable tail wheel just yet.

Anyway, I like this pilot figure, but I can't find it anywhere. I think it's a Zombie but I can't find their website. Anybody know what it is and where to get one?

Thanks much,

Mike
