I ordered a BCMA 40 today for mine. The distance the motor is out from the firewall is nearly perfect with no mods.

Brisson 3.2 52cc 20x10 prop very fast when you want. I never had any airframe problems except the wooden blocks that hold the cowl on but this year it should be fixed ( Blind nuts ) ......

Hey Guys,
i'm new to this thread and have read a few pages back and am a bit afraid to ask how a Moki 1.8 would do in the nose of this plane. i think i saw one guy using one but the poster wasn't sure if it was 1.8 or 2.1? anyway, without causing too much debate... i have the Moki 1.8 and really want to get into the P-47. i need a break this season from the frustrations and what-not of building.
some of the engines you guys have in your birds are quite big. i am really enjoying all the custom schemes, cockpits, etc. they look AWESOME!
thanks again...

For what it's worth swixtt a friend of mine (Bob) is flying one of these with a Moki 1.50 and it is amazing how fast the thing is. In fact, it gets around so well that I often wonder if he just managed to acquire a REALLY strong 1.50 or if they all run like this one does. I don't own a Moki yet so can't answer that latter question. Bob's airplane has had some scale mods as well and is up around 18 pounds ready to fly. I have flown a G-26 powered H9 Jug along side Bob's Moki powered one and the performance difference stunning. I doubt even a G-38 would give similar performance, maybe a G-45.

Swixtt,

See page 31 of this thread for pic's of my Moki 1.8 installed in this Jug.

I swing a bolly 20 x 8 prop, run 5% nitro & 15% coolpower oil and she runs great.

Power is more than adequate, take off at 2/3 power, cruise at a little under half. It is fun to pour in the power on the way up HUGE loops and cuban 8's though.

My Jug is coming up to 2 years old. She in currently getting a make over, stripped the covering off, glassed it, added panel lines and some other surface detail. Also added a retractable tailwheel. Painted the fuse yesterday, it's coming up well.

Go with the Moki, you will like it.

Cheers

Mick

Well, got the tailgear mounted up and functioning and farting around with the tailgear doors. Coming along slow but sure.

Hope someone didn't post this already here, but I just found this link to an electric powered Hangar 9 giant scale P-47 with a real radial sound system, and thought some of you might be interested:

There are several other electric powered Hangar 9 warbirds which have simular sound systems

Maximus,
Nice Tailgear setup, awesome, will you pneumatic seperate to run the door or will the door be actuated by motion of the gear coming down and a spring?

They will be operated by two 1/4" air cylinders. The tailgear operation is air operated too. The main gear inner doors and tailwheel gear doors will open from one valve and the main gear and tailgear will operate off another valve with a jomar sequencer.
