If either a Hellcat or Corsair ARF with an 80" +/- wingspan came out today, the P-47 would take a backseat. In a heartbeat.

Speaking of: I've heard a rumor that KMP may release such a Corsair later this year, possibly this spring. I'm wringing my hands, trying to decide do I hang on to my money until then, or do I go for the P-47? The choice is easy now but when the P-47 comes out and this forum gets real interesting, it'll be difficult.

Mike

splais,
Are you really expecting your 50cc engine to turn a "scale", 26" 4 blade prop. The full scale had a 13' dia prop and this model is about 1/6th scale. You might get it to sorta fly on an 18" prop, but not very well.

Terry,

The blade length will not be able to be true "scale". But the DA50 should have sufficient power to pull a 4-blade prop of 18" length and 6 pitch. I'm still doing research. Right now I am waiting for a Solo 3-blade to come for my Roto25 equipped Hawk. If that works OK, the DA50 4-blade should be fine. I'm flying a 3-blade Gruapner on the Hawk right now and she is fine.

Well, We also have the giant H9 P-47's them here in South Africa. After reading about the plane in MAN. I phoned my LHS to know when they will be available here, great was my surprise to hear that they had them from before Christmas!!! I am now trying to find another good enough reason (that my wife will fall for) to make the 3 hour trip to go and see what it looks like.

According to the HS owner two of them are already flying. One with a Siato 200Ti and the other with a OS 5 cyl radial. He himself recommend the G-38 or the Saito 1.80.

I have to decide wheather to go for this bird or go for the ESM(KMP) Spitfire and Me 109 instead. I have three other warbirds in the 71"-75" wingspan range and it would be nice to have all my Warbirds to more or less the same size.

Doesn't 6 pitch sound a little low ? Where's the speed going to come from ? Just curious..........

A lot of rpm . Yes, I am waiting to do some pitch testing on the 3-blade before I order the 4-blade. I may end up having to go to a higher pitch. The key is to get a flying four blade prop on her and figuring out what length and pitch will do it.

Why the fascination with 3 and 4 blades ?

Can you really see them when they're spinnin' ? I understand a scale static prop is a pain to put on and off, I myself don't care as long as the plane performs and I get the most out of the engine. I have a friend who is into the multiblade thing and has not been able to give a real good reason why he wants to use them.

I'm not being a smarty, just curious.....

I do want to build one of the Toni Clark 1/3 Tiger Moths with the reduction, now you spin a scale prop (2 blade) at a more scale RPM, 500 at idle. Don't need speed with the tiger though.....

Hope that no one is getting upset talking this thread around the bend but hey,the plane's not available yet so might as well chat eh?

Are you flying at the field across the train tracks ? I was out there with a previous UAV company for testing and stopped by, nice field and runway.

S1, I might ask why you are so fixated with my fixation.

For what it's worth; I do it because I can; besides it looks neat

Yes, I fly at the Yuma Aeromodelers field out by Blaisdel. Great place to fly. I also work out at YPG

For what it's worth here is my estimate of the cost of this resonably priced H9 P-47 when equipped with gasoline engine, smoke system and a lot of neat stuff(of course I have over half of this stuff on hand, my out of pocket costs will be about $1200):

H9 1/5 Scale P-47 $600.00
DA50 Gas Engine & Muffler $664.00
Solo Adj Scale 4-Blade Prop $240.00
(1) Hamilton Prop Decal Set $007.00
(10) Hitec HS-645MG Servos $400.00
(2) JR 791 Retract Servos $116.00
(2) 2700 6v Nimah Rx Batteries $070.00
(1) 2500 4.8v Nimah Ignition Battery $035.00
(4) Electrodynamic UltraSwitches $064.00
(3) GEM2000 Battery/System Monitors $075.00
(1) Zombie WWII Pilot “Chuck” $070.00
(1) Smoke 16oz Tank $008.00
(1) Slimline Sport Smoke Pump $120.00
(1) 750 Nimah AAA Smoke Battery $012.00
Misc H9 Titanium Pro-Links $020.00
Misc Servo Extensions $040.00
Misc Epoxy & Glue ?
Misc Foam Padding ?
Misc Replacement Pushrod Connectors ?

________
$2541.00

Ouch

No fixation, just that you guys who like the 'scale' blade thing are unusual thinkers

Although, you YPG guys are alright, very helpful when I was there.....

Don't you know you never ever add up what it's gonna cost !

That magneto G45 is looking better and better all the time !

No, you mis-read. The shipments to Australia and S Africa were 100% inspected and any sub-standard quality was pulled and distroyed.

There also, was not enough production to ship those to the US and release it. For the US release we must get a shipment large enough to cover all of our orders
