There you go Jet Freak, Countryboy pretty much explained it. Aerotech is as close to scale you can get
rivets, details and all already into all the surfaces and fuse. With yellow it would take hours upon days
to add all this in. So that is where the price increase comes. The only drawback in my opinion to
aerotech other than maybe price is weight, The p-47 would tip the scales at around 33lbs where the
yellow might get up to 24-26 tops and they are both 80" spans

I like that aerotech scale muffler for the 47, bet it would fit in the yellow too or probally even a topflight, hmmm.....

TLH101 -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (11/13/2005 2:13:38 AM)

Do you suppose there is any chance the "delay", is due to reengineering the wing and gear to use larger, wheels? That would be cool [:D].

mirwin -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (11/20/2005 4:53:08 AM)

I was studying the instruction manual and I think a retractable tailwheel is doable. I'm gonna wait and see before I decide to put the preferred air retracts on it though. Anybody else thinking along these lines?

Mike

I'm thinking that the tailwheel retract unit Yellow Aircraft sells for $30 will work quite nicely on this plane. It is bulkhead mounted and air operated. That's one of the first things I'm going to look at when the kit arrives.

I'm curious to see the new main gear the P-47 comes with. It looks to me like it should do the job. If so, I'll stick with it, which raises the question of whether I want to run an air tank/valve/servo just to make the tailwheel go up. (probably so [:D])

I too hope they REDESIGN the CUTOUTS FOR THE MAIN WHEELS so that LARGER more SCALE SIZED WHEELS WILL FIT!!!!!!!!! THat is one thing that looks silly and out of size on this otherwise great looking A/C,,,, Hope they do it right..[8D]

asnook -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (11/21/2005 10:59:41 AM)

My thunderbolt 150 arrives early next week, seems Horizon shipped 40 off to Helgar Racing in England over a month ago. Already have a saito 200ti ready to install. I will post some pictures when she arrives.

mirwin -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (11/21/2005 3:23:09 PM)

Here are some questions I have:

1. How strong the main gear looks
2. What gas engine options exist based on space inside he cowl
3. Is the tailwheel adaptable to a retract setup
4. Is converting to air retracts practical

Best of luck with your new fighter.

I have some Q's too
will futabas S3010(90oz@6v) will do ok for ailerons,flaps,elevators and rudder,and a OS160fx will do the trick?
and what is the best retrac servos?
can anyone take more pictures of this bird please, like on the servo tail asembly group and fuse please.
thanks
Fernando

p39 -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (11/28/2005 11:59:25 AM)

I'm sure 3010's would be fine for her. No one has one yet, so pictures are not available..... I'll probably be using Hitec 75 retract servos on mine- when and if it arrives. Not sure about the motor...

mr.scale -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (11/28/2005 10:56:17 PM)

cool, I think S3010 will do just fine, it's a show fly on the wing bird so i think i'll go with these, but my order will have to wait till next year because we are moving to the lone star state, in the mean time I will follow this thread and learn what goes best for this bird!

Woah.. from Washington to TX? Good luck with the move. The one down side to the 3010's could be the nylon gears. You just have to make sure that the linkages are tight. Otherwise I've been using the 3305's ALOT!

nemesis4u -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (11/29/2005 2:37:07 AM)

mr.scale,
Where in TX are you moving to?

mr.scale -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (11/29/2005 5:47:29 PM)

In the Brownsville/Harlingen area, How far you are from this area?

TLH101 -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (11/29/2005 6:48:14 PM)

There is pretty strong core of Giant Warbirds in that area. Here's a link to the club from Edinburg: http://www.tejasrc.org/event.html
And dont forget the best part, you will be within driving distance to Bomber Field:

p39 -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (11/29/2005 6:50:52 PM)

They're a good bunch in Edinberg. I attended the IMAA winter Ralley the last two years.

mr.scale -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (11/29/2005 7:31:58 PM)

I think I know where is the tajas club and i already contact the http://www.smashrc.com club and i'm going to do my firts flight there and then check out some other r/c clubs around the area, i know there is a lot of flying days and a lot of sun!! and a lot of good guys, i cant wait to get there!!

Anybody know what gives? Production issues? Design Issues? Both? Over the past 6 months, it's gone from an initial August 05 to a February 06 release date.

BadLemon -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (12/6/2005 2:29:19 AM)

You may want to PM Mike McConville and ask if anybody knows he should.

alans -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (12/6/2005 7:54:02 PM)

The 40 off thunderbolts arrived in the United kingdom @ Helgar racing last week. I was due to pick up one and was told that they are all sub-standard and would be returned to the manufacturer. Argh, i thought i would be the first to post pictures. I had a space on the bench and all the servos ready to install.

BadLemon -> RE: New 81" P-47 ARF coming from Hangar 9 (12/6/2005 9:02:05 PM)

Ouch!! [X(] thats going to leave a mark...[:'(]
