Scott Harris got a good first practise flight today also. Everything worked well, and Scott flies the bird nicely.

More tomorrow.

Ed: yes I believe it is Simon's. But Simon could not make it.

Matt: the Mig is at 19.9 Kg's dry

Dave: Will try to get the requested photos for you

Mom: yes I promise to be careful and use protection

Would be fabulous to see how the static scores went. As for protection, if its the same protection you've been carrying around in anticipation since your 16th birthday....remember what happens to old Robart air lines.... Speaking of Brits.....did Steve and Ian get the F-100 over the Channel? Steve still burnishing I'm sure...

Thanks buddy. I was just at the field, updating everyone on your antics.

I consulted with Rex, he agrees....

John...WOW. Fabulous images you're gathering. You know your close to a subject when you can't even get the entire airframe in focus.
Impressive stuff bro. JWM calendar coming I presume.
Thanks for the hard work. Love the shot of the guys during the anthem. The photo exudes their pride. NICE!
Paul

I dont think there is any chance of anything going bad in Johns pocket.... The Hungarian nightlife is pretty wild and I dont John nor Henry have failed to bring forth an "air good friendship and love" to the locals. These old boys are gonna be worn out when we get them home.
It is Sunday around lunch (430 amCST) It was just too early for me to go the field this morning. Sung, Dustin, Dave and Scott all have static today, and one last training sessions before the judges see their routines. At 1230 last night Scott and Dustin were polishing off the documentation. I got to spend dome time with the UAE team, what a bunch of nuts these guys are. I even met and shook the hand of the "Cable Guy"....yes the world famous guy who flew the Eurosport into the powerlines. Turns out he is not too popular right now in some Soudi communities, especiallzy those that were without power for about a week....LOL

Last night the opening ceremony was cool. It was nice to see the Isreali team and the Iranian team side by side, and enjoying themselves. Makes you believe that most of the worlds problems could be solved with a few beers and some RC planes....
More later, going sightseeing today after I go take some aspirin...
Tommy

Sunday, July 31, 2005 @ 2330 hours

Today was busy from early morning to late PM with practice flights. We have witnessed some very impressive flying and some less impressive also. The skill levels both in building and flying varies quite a bit from pilot to pilot. There are planes here that are true masterpieces (The majority) and then there are planes that are simple sport jets.

The German Team is very talented. The have some really nice planes, and the flying skills of pilots like Thomas Gleissner and Stephan Voelker (World champs) is just phenomenal.

Thomas Gleissner is flying the new AirWorld 1:4,5 scale Bae Hawk, powered by a P-160 and weighing 19.67 kg. His practice flight is by far the most impressive I have seen so far and the plane is just stunning.

Unfortunately, my camera lens has been acting up today and I did not get any super sharp photos. I think it could have something to do with the 140 degree heat in the car. Hopefully, it will function tomorrow. Of all 100 shots from today, only a handful where acceptable.

Smoke on...

I made sure to get on the list to get one of the first kits of the Hawk. After seeing it fly, it was on the "must have" list.

This Hawk Mk. 66 is entered by Stephan Voelker. It's scratch built and impressive. There is no way you would ever believe that this big jet is onlu 44 lbs, but yes... He managed to keep it at the weight limit.

Scale is 1:3,75 and the wingspan is 2.50 meters. P-160 power.

Stephan flew it on ut second flight today, and it looks good in the air. Unfortunately, at the end of his flight, the whole vertical stab fluttered. He managed to throttle back and land the plane safely in the grass, but with a weight of 19.96 kg, there is very little room for added weight for repairs. So, it will be interesting to see if he returns with it.
