I have been working on this kit for about 4 months now. I'm really impressed with the quality of the cnc cut parts. They are spot on accurate. The fiberglass parts like cowl , cowl ring , wheel pants wing fairings etc are very well done. The pre-built and covered (fiberglass ) aleirons can not be beat. The tail wheel is just a work of art in it self. Rudder and elevators are mounted with ball bearings in a very unique way and make for a near perfect none friction movment. Landing gear wire is all pre bent and welded for you already. All screws and other hardware are included even the flying wires and cables are of the very best quilty . There are many many pre-shaped parts in this kit. I think it contains over 1200 parts. This kit is not for the beginer as the instructions are very brief and traslated from German to english but if you have a few stick planes under your belt and can read blue prints it woin't be a problem. All hinges and other hardware are in the kit. This is a very big plane when completed and a VW won't get it to the field. I'm useing a RCS 215 5cyl radial 4 stroke for power but it will fly on a much smaller engine. Covering is Stits system radio is Mutiplex Evo 9 servos are Hitec.

So if you want a very stable bi-plane in a huge size and don't mind building go for it. Peter Barth is a aerospace engineer for the Euro fighter and travels between Spain and Germany during his work,. But he has always answered my e-mails at some point and is very willing to help you out if you have questions. I was shorted a couple of critical parts and he did a great job of getting them to me as soon as he could get them made.
Also if you have or are thinking about getting this kit I will be happy to help answer your questions, as I did make some minor mistakes but nothing I could not correct very quickley. So far my advise is if you build this kit.dry fit everything first, if you don't see it on one blue print it will be on one of the others, BUT do take your time and make sure everything is stright. You will be rewarded with a near perfect scale outline of one of the most beautiful aircrafte ever built. And it can do some nice stunts and lands at almost walking speed.

I have some photos of my progress and will be happy to share them and any of mu ides with you. Just e-mail me and I will help you out the best I can.
This kit is 5 stars all the way!!

One of the finest looking planes to ever take to the skies! And Barth is arguably the best.

Would you consider posting your photos here for all of us to see? I for one am interested in following your progress.

Good point SoCalSal!

I am the designer of the Genesis 33% Waco and the soon to be released 40% Genesis Waco:

The Barth kit as more details and I admit it. He did an incredible replica of this marvellous machine. However, Peter designed it for personal reason and targeted his design to the scale purist and that is a good thing.

However, he forgot one important business aspect: Give people what they want. Not what you think they need.

You see, when I designed my Waco, I filled in where Barth omitted. He designed a Super-Scale version but he only targeted the 3% True-Scale enthusiasts. On my side, I took the other 97% of the market he left out.

The 97% market are the guy's that want a plane that they can actually build, without needing 20 years of building experience. Mine is fully supplied with 7 different jigs to make assembly monkey-proof, contains a 113 page manual, 7 CAD main drawings, 4 template sheets and a Carbon Fibber landing gear that will not break. Does the Barth kit include these features to simplify the assembly for the common modellers and eliminate the fear of missing a landing?

It all depends how you value your time. Mine takes 500 hours to build. Barth, we all know, takes 1 000 hours. Therefore, when you compare the price difference, you will be working at $ 1.00 an hour to build your Barth.

Most people today cannot afford this time luxury and that is why my kit is selling to a point that I am forced to make a 40% version, which I did.

I hope I did clarify some issues. I love what Peter Barth did. I just made a more adapted “to our times” version.

Computers are always improving and getting better. Why could we not expect the same from model designers?

Hallo Dany,

I am building also the Waco from Barth and the thing you said about 20 years of building experience is a litle bit over done, i presume that if some one going to build a 1/3/ scale waco it is not his first model.

And what you say about all the features, i really dont missing them with the Barth Waco. Okee the manual of the Barth kit is not 113 pages but in mine opinion it is much clearly enough and the buiding of the Barth Waco is verry straight forward.
I think that the moddeler that is going for such a model is a lot more handyer than you think Dany.

And for the landing gear the same, a pilot that bulding and flying such a bird is skilfully enough to land it on the spot with a three pointer.
The part were you talking about a building time- money ratio is in mine opinion nonsense, if i am building that is for me relaxation and then i am not thinking of time- money ratio.

I go with SoCalSal so if he say: This Barth kit is 5 stars all the way!!

Cesar.

If time, money building ratio is nonsense than why have ARF's replaced kits and dominated the market?
Your reply is non sense.
It is ignoring clear market facts. The majority of builders like a well designed fast building kit. They like to build, but don't want to spend forever building it. There is no right or wrong here, just statistics. People who spend forever building, and those who would rather not are just different, not good, bad, right or wrong. But the hard statistics show that many builders are disappearing to ARF’s and most of the remaining builders like clear, accurate, fast builds.
Anyone in business knows that people dictate the market, not the other way around. ARF's are not an evil plot of the maketplace. It is what the majority of people want.
I have noticed a psychological trend in scale and scratch builders though. They cannot comprehend why others are not like themselves.
