Sig makes the individual beams (actually a couple of mfg's do) in a small size which I have had to use for a rear exhaust 15. They were exactly the right length and spacing was a simple process. worked for me!

I can translate the russian instruction for you if you want

If you want to use the Цсткам in airplane, you can turn the crankcase then the exhaustpipe are in rear, remember turn the piston in same way as the cylinder cause the parts are worned out to best fit together and keep good compression.

How to say Цсткам: [Tsstkam] and write in iso standard: Cstkam

See at the site here: http://www.unics.uni-hannover.de/ntr/russisch/umschrifttabelle.html , http://www.omniglot.com/writing/russian.htm

layback2,

A translation of the paperwork (other than parts) would probably say the same thing an any other paperwork. If you have never run a diesel, the best thing is to get help from someone who has. Another choice is to read break-in info from this site:

http://www3.bc.sympatico.ca/dieselcombat/index.htm

As Motorboy said, remove the front and rear housings, turn the crankcase so the exhaust faces rear, reinstall the housings. Make sure there is no binding caused by the conrod being off center or something.
It appears to have been set-up for a boat or car. Make sure you keep the intake oriented as it is now. If you rotate it 90 degrees, it will run backwards or not run (depending on which way).

The engine is a little larger than the OS because it has the contra piston, etc. above the piston. It probably has ball bearings also. Looks like a nice, well built little engine.

I would suggest at least an 8x4 prop to start.

For initial familiarisation and running in I would go larger on the prop 9X4" , this will have more flywheel effect and help you get used to diesel starting techniques. If its a steel linner with cast iron piston run it in useing the short runs and cool off technique, this allows for proper bedding in of the piston linner fit and the gradual expanding of the cast iron piston to running size.

The recomendations here :- http://www3.bc.sympatico.ca/dieselcombat/about_diesels.htm are really good and worth reading/following, diesels are different but if the procedures are followed they are really not difficult to opperate. The hardest thing to learn is the flick, it needs to be healthy and fast , once learnt starting is a breeze.

gcb i was looking at the motor as you talk about it by turning around the end covers yes would be cool but man the oil with out a pipe would really blow everywere wondering if i can find a pipe to send the waste away from the front insted of turning around the exhaust how hot does one of these engines get what can i use to make a exhaust pipe

layback2,

I have never seen one of those engines up close but from what I can see in your pic, you just need some aluminum (or other) tubing to fit over the exhaust. It appears to have a groove to install a seal (not silicone on a diesel), similar to the MVVS 2.5.

It may run OK that way but the exhaust in front will cut down a lot on the cooling and make your plane look funny. Just kidding, but you may have to supply some air flow baffles to augment cooling.

I am not sure it will works, but the tuned pipe can not use with dieselengine cause lack of backpressure and dieselengine are more powerful than glowengine...

I've played with one of these. It refuses to run reliably. I broke one piston pin. The brass contra piston locks in the steel head about 10 seconds after it fires. The timing of transfer ports is odd in the diesel version. It can be reassembled to RIRE configuration, but the case needs to be modified to clear the boost port. You also need to watch the tolerances, so that you aren't binding the conrod, it might need and extra gasket.

I have run a diesel with a tuned pipe and it worked fine.

What fuel are you using? I tried using the mix recommended in the manual.
