Hey Downwind,

I'm building a BTE Venture 60 and want to position my aileron servos like you have yours. Think you could post a pic of the mounting on the hatch?

BTW, Looks GREAT!

Thanks,
JB

Hello Downwind,

Very nice job so far.

Have you been able to locate a fibreglass cowling for your 4*

Keep up the good work.

heres the fuse.
i went 100% by the instructions for the fuse assembly. I thought about sheeting the turtle deck and finding or building an engine cowl but i figured i would just keep it simple.

I did add a pushrod tube in the fuse for routing the radio antenna.

other end of fuse.

I'm not real crazy about using the plastic "tube inside the tube" type of pushrods. the rods tend to change in length as the temp. chages. So your radio trims never stay the same. So, with the lack of material to build another type of pushrod system and the closest hobby shop over an hour away-And pure lazyness- I just went with the included set-up.

now its on to the tail section!

I know what you mean about the plastic in plastic rod system. I'm at the same point you are on my 4 star 40. I happen to have a couple spare 2-56 rods I'm going to use in the 4 star. I'm thinking of running the antenna down the fuse as well. Did you notch the formers to accept the plastic tube? Or did you drill holes in them before hand? Since mine is assembled,I'll have to some how make a few notch for the tube. Time to drill the holes in the mount for the engine and start on the tail section also. JT

Looks great . I just got done covering my 4 star with yellow monocote. Looking for ideas for a trim sheme now. Downwind, I have a question. I have a tail wheel assembly something like yours. Its from Sig. I really dont understand how to install it. It came with a wheel bracket just like yours, 2 springs ,and a T shaped piece of metal. I'm not sure how to install the springs? I know they have to go to the rudder somehow. I thought maybe you were suppose to screw the T shape peice to the bottom of the rudder. Then attach the springs to that piece .But the 4 star rudder is way too small or I should say narrow to screw anything to the bottom of it. Do you have any idea how I can attach the springs to the rudder? I'm kinda at a stand still on this. By the way, your 4 star looks great so far, looking forward to more pics as you progress. Thanks, JT

Great looking job on the tail Downwind I don't think I'm going to have the guts to do anything fancy on covering mine. I'm going with mainly red on the bottom of the wings, the turtle deck, and fuse forward of the canopy. Yellow MonoKote on the rest with some black trim.

Great post, have been following with great interest, especially the retracts

Keep up the good work, it helps give me confidence during my build also...........

Rule one: No matter what else happens, fly the airplane.
Rule two: Fly it until the last piece stops moving.
You know you've landed with the wheels up when it takes full power to taxi.
