I recently bought a cub that has been started but the person past away before it was finished. The wing and fuse are built and the person did a pretty good job on it. It has no horizontal or vertical stabilizer and that is all I got. I would like to find the plans to this plane but I dont know where to start. It has 105" wing and the fuse is 55" from tail to firewall I know it is a kit because there are part numbers stamped on each rib, side frames, ect. I believe the kit is a few years old just buy the dust on it. If anybody can give me any info or advice on what this kit is or maybe some plans that are similar to finish the rest of the kit please reply!!!!!!

THANKS TO ALL!!!!

I also recently purchased a 1/4 scale cub kit that was missing the plans and instructions but the kit wasn't started. In my case it's a Sig kit. The kit is still in production so I've ordered both from my LHS. The Sig kit and the Balsa USA kit have a different size fuse on the bottom where the gear attaches. If you go to this web site ( www.swensonspecialties.com/Index.html ) they give the different sizes for ordering cub gear. A measurement may tell you which you have. I hope to start building this winter. If you'd like to keep in contact during the build, contact me by email.

Just had a second thought...if the wing span is 105" it's most likely a Sig kit since the Balsa USA kit is 108". My Sig kit is advertised on the box as 105". Hope this helps.

Easiest way to tell is look at how the wing mounts to the fuselage.

If it mounts from the top, then it is likely a Sig kit,

If the wing panels bolt on from inside the cabin, then it is a Balsa USA (it will also have an opening door..)

I bet it's a Sig. ken Breiting is the designer and builder. It's the 1/4 scale Cub manufactured back in 1981. Kit # RC-48. Sig still has the kit in production. A good clue also, it has a 2-piece wing that mounts on the cabin's top. I'm about 70-80% through puting it together. Boy, that's areal builder's kit. Lots of parts. You can order the plans and accessories and part through Sig's website www.sigmfg.com. Good luck! You can contact me if you have a question or wanted to shareome info.

I finally got my rc-48 in the air the other day and it flys great with a 1.8 xl and a 15-6 prop. Motor is still tight after 2.5 tanks of fuel and when it is broken in I will use a 16-8 wood prop. I did not like the mounting of the two wings together as I thought more that one 440 would be better so I just glued them together after checking the back of my f-150 with a 8 foot bed and it does fit. It's a long one peace wing but it will not come apart it flight earther. Gets off the ground in about 6 feet. Warren
