How do the Bennet tanks work.... looks like you have to drill the cap and install the fittings?? How do you do the vent inside the tank

Found the felt clunk... it is a Zenoah part # 5500-85400

I think the felt clunk is a GREAT idea and I plan to get one

I wish I new more about the Bennet tank and how it goes together... not much info to be found

Use any of the felt clunks or any of the fine wire mesh inline type filters on your gas line. Just as long as you filter it BEFORE the gas gets to your carbs. I have an inline filter on the inlet line of my fuel can, also one on my inlet line to the carb.

You do have to make the holes in your Bennett tank exactly where you would like. This is very easy though. They come with fittings for 3 lines. A fill, a vent, and the pickup with clunk to the carb. The Fittings are already barbed so you do not have to worry about that and there is absolutely no tubing to bend. It is the simplest design and works great. The cap screws on and will never fail like a stopper. Some say it could come un-screwed but I have never seen that.

I am just about done mounting my engine now. Unless I am missing something, the standoffs that came with my DL 50 were long enough and work fine. Do I need to move my engine further out to balance? I kind of thought this engine would be heavy for this plane and moving it back would help.
The cowling fits fine in this position.

I used just the stand offs that came with the dl50 and had no concerns it worked out great and did not have to add any wt. The runner

aad2dd,

Test fit wings together just like instructions tell you to. Bottom wing needs assembled in advance of these steps.Get some 60 minute epoxy from the hardware store (Ace Hardware carries it).

Cover upper portion of fuselage (from epoxy dripping onto it).

Assemble as per instructions & wipe off excess epoxy (rubbing alcohol & paper towels).

Look back (here) a few pages for my list of "Links to mods" for ideas on modifying wing joiners prior to above steps.

'Glassing' of bottom wing not required, unless you forgot to modify wing joiners.

I built my wings a while ago before I read this thread. I did not modify the wing joiners so I was wondering if:

1) I really need to glass the wings?
2) Where to glass, how much, and what weight cloth should I would use?
3) Both top and bopttom wings?

thanks...

I recently completed my wings. As I see it... the joiners are risky.... especially without glssing the joints.

My version of the build included building new joiners with carbon fiber plate and high grade aircraft ply... and 3" wide medium weight fiberglass tape top and bottom.

I know for a fact my wings will never fold up.

Confidence in your aircraft is essential in a high performance aerobatic airplane.

Hi I have been flying one with a zenoah 45 with no trouble. It will pull it straight up as for as you want it to go.
You got to land it with a little power on to keep noes up. It bleeds of speed very quick. Mike

I think 3" cloth on the top and bottom of both wings would be safe. I think the real problem is the wrong type of material was used for the joiner. (should be maple) If this was a kit I am sure they would have advised fiberglass but it had to be engineered as an ARF so this is what you get. Recovering the center might not be such a big deal though and if the cloth lays down well it should look fine. I always like to tack my fiberglass cloth down with spray contact cement before adding any resin.
