Well I started building my AeroSport. I just finished building my T-IFO converted to elevon for my indoor club flying. I cleaned up my workbench and laid out the Aerosport took photos. I sprayed some foam safe accelerator and grabbed my CA. I guess you want to know why I'm telling this story for such an easy build. Notice above I didn't mention grabbing foam safe CA :-(. I heard something that sounded like an egg was frying. Yeap it was the foam reacting to the unsafe CA with accelerator. Don't worry it wasn't to bad. But I learned my lesson. When I cleaned up my work bench and laid out what was required for the Aerosport I forgot to put my Mercury foam safe CA on my bench and remove the unsafe CA. Other than that I will be finished tonight.

I'm finished the build of the AeroSport. I am quite impressed. All that's left is to set the throws on the Elevons. Here's pics.

Nice work, TB!!!

You have kept the wiring nice and neat and you should be good to go! Just make sure you keep the throws dialed down and put in some expo for the maiden. Then after you have a few flights you can start dialing things up.

The AeroSport is very responsive and can be hard to handle if you have too much throw/and or no expo.

What the best way to lateral balance the AeroSport?

What is typically used to balance? Weights, Metal?

BTW:
Set the Expo to 50% for the High and Low Rates
Set the low rate to 1/4" Up and Down
Set high rate to 1/2" Up and Down

Let me know if that's too high for either high or low rate throws.

You should be good with those throws and expo.

For lateral balance, I use a small washer glued under the light wingtip, or I have used small nails pushed (carefully!) into the light wingtip.

Scott...I'm using the Thunder Power 2070 battery. Do you think I'll need more than a small washer to lateral balance?

Just round up a few washers, stick your battery on, and try them. Just lay the washer on top of the wing until you find the right one. Then pick the plane up with one finger on the prop shaft and one on the nose. You'll know when you have the proper washer.

Scott...Will the Dualsky 2826CA-12T on 6x4 or 6x5.5 prop be sufficient for the AeroCat?

Reason I'm asking is I have a few Thunder Power 1320mAh that are only capable of delivering up to (20C) 26A burst and (13C) 17A continuous and the SpinMax 2212-6 in the combo is pulling about 28A. I did purchase a 6x4 prop from you as well, will this drop the Amps below 17A?

What do you recommend I do? Try the 6x4 prop or Purchase the Dualsky?

There are 3 options (from Model Aero) for the 1320 batts. They would be the Dualsky, the Littlescreamers Parkjet, and the 2212-10. All 3 will run between 16 and 19 amps. 7/5E prop on the DS and 2212-10, and 6/5.5 or 6/4 on the LSPJ.

Of the 3, the LSPJ is quite a bit lighter.

The 6/4 on your 2212-6 is going to draw around 23-24 amps, which is still a bit high for the 1320.

Thanks Scott for the detailed response. I ordered the Dualsky from your website today. I got some 7x5s from my LHS. Can't wait to get my AeroCat built.

I kind wish I would have ordered the LittleScreamer now. Oh well, I might order it next. Thanks for the expedient efforts.

I'll post here because it seems that the post on Rcgroups is not receiving any love!

I finally assembled the Cat and it's ready and the weather was somewhat cooperative yesterday. The Cat performs as advertised. Super fast but also flys nice and slow like a park flyer. I had a nice headwind coming off the bay and it was cold! I flew for about five minutes (that was all my fingers could stand). I'm using a 2100 3S Align 20C battery. Worked great. The only thing that surprised me was the sound of that prop! It is
