Ken1.8t...I got hooked after reading the article in Model Aviation as well. The price is what really drew me in, but then when I saw it fly the price didn't matter. Well it still did, but not as much.

Wow, it's amazing what that little write-up in Model Aviation did! That is my new favorite mag!!! I do owe a big thank you to Michael Ramsey (Model Aviation Editor) for noticing the AeroCat a couple years ago at the E-Fest.

Seriously, they have flown the AeroCat extensively, and are reporting their findings. I do not advertise with them, so their report is totally unbiased.

Scott...I'm thinking of putting carbon fiber strips on the front of my AeroSport to reinforce the wings. Do you see a problem with me doing that? Also what size are the carbon fiber strips in the kit? I'm on vacation and don't have my calipers. There's a hobby shop here that has carbon strips but in many different sizes.

TB, the AeroSport does not need carbon strips on the leading edges, unless you want some impact resistance. The AeroSport wing will not flutter at high speed.

I've been grounded due to the very, very heavy winds here in the northeast. We were gusting 45 mph yesterday and 25+ mph today. I won't press my luck with those conditions.

Using white 3mm Depron foam, I added a contour to the Cat's motor mount for styling and better aerodynamics!

I'd also be interested in finding out more on possible retracts for this cat...

Ken1.8t...That looks pretty nice. Where did you get your 3mm foam from?

Oh yes, I forgot the reference link! I used 3mm white Depron. 2mm may have been easier for this application. I bought the foam, it comes in 10 sheets. I'm mostly going to use it to build small indoor flyers...

Nice mod Ken1.8!

I did retracts on an AeroSport awhile back. I used three GWS retracts and one servo to actuate all three. The linkages were a pain! I even designed a steerable nose wheel. It works pretty well and is an attention getter.

Scott,
That's a real nice set up but where did you fit the battery with all of that gear?

The battery goes under the nose wheel steering push rod.

Hey, I bought and flew the AeroCat on RealFlight G3.5. I put up the NAV and I am getting about 43mph WOT. What motor and prop combination should I be using on RF G3.5?

Got some more stick time in today. The winds were still whipping but it was managable. I finally went full throttle with the wind! No joke how fast this plane is. Easily 70+ mph...

I was able to get out to the field after church and lunch today and it's still blistery out there. I did of course fly but I'm having trouble with the launches. I'm not flipping the plane, instead just letting it go due to the great amount of thrust of the prop. This is causing a problem and making me hit the ground. I broke the nose off. This is my fault even with the assembly as I did not pay attention to the CF placement on the bottom nose. I did not install it forward enough. I had a second rough take off and ended up breaking where the rear stab and tail meet. I'm epoxying it now. I originally assembled the entire plane with foam safe CA. I think that the epoxy will yield better results. I did manage to get a good 10m
