Another Cat is born. Not flown yet but when this wind calms down airborn we will go.

CDR Double
Maxamps 2100
Pheonix 35
14oz AUW

Better than one to one thrust, just by holding it vertically by the nose with WOT and felling it push my arm up.

I also have a Poly Quest 3S 1500 on order, should be a wee bit lighter with that pack.

Andy

P.S. If the wind dies down this evening I will take her for a spin

A pic of the bird

Hey, it looks just like mine!

You've got a great setup there. You will be happy, and you're on the right track with the 1500 battery. You may give up a bit of speed, but you'll be a couple ounces lighter.

I will soon be offering Dualsky 20C lipos, and they perform as well as any I've seen. I've been flying their 1500 and it's great.

Good luck on the maiden!

I did the maiden flight on the Cat this morning, no wind. Great flying plane, very nice. Vertical was better than one to one and level speed was close to 70. A lighter battery will only further enhance the flight performance. My Maxamps 2100 puts me at just a hair over 14oz but with an ounce or two lighter batt. I should be right were i want to be. My Cat flew as all the others so I won't go into detail but as usual it's on rails.

Great kit Scott, I look foward to many flights with the AeroCat.

I do hate to mess with an already great setup but I do have a Mega 16-15-4 stairing at me saying Oooo Oooo put me in that plane. Hmmm...what to do...It would not be that difficult to change out a motor just to try it.

Anyhoo, great plane, love it.

Hi Andy,

It's always nice to hear about a successful maiden! Congratulations!

When you mentioned your setup, I knew you'd like it.

The Mega would be fun to try, but I doubt you'd like it better than what you have. But, with a 6/5.5 prop and a strong 2100 pack, you would be at the high end of the power band. I would recommend 3-4 mm carbon tube reinforcement on the leading edges of the wing, carbon pushrods, and strong servos for that power package.

The highest speed I have recorded on the AeroCat is 73 mph. The Mega could top that!

I just received a shipment of 5 CustomCDR "Hot" doubles today, if anyone wants one. I have restored them on the Model Aero website.

Thanks,

Scott

Scott, I've been working 90 hour weeks so the two cats are still boxed up. I did get the G3 Expansion Pack 2 featuring the AeroCat. How accurately do you think it simulates the actual bird?

Hey Scott,

Just a quick question about the CDR Double.

With brand new 20C 3S 1500 and 20C 3S 2100 batteries I am pulling 14.5 amps with the APC 6X5.5 prop, does that sound about right?

I read another post saying they were getting 17.9 amps out of a 2100 and 17amps from a TP1350

Just wondering.

I love the Cat by the way...I put two more flights on her today after work. I put a Polly Quest 20C 3S 1200 in it and that droped the weight 2oz. down to 12.5 oz. Made a differance.

Thanks

Andy

I think they did a great job with the AeroCat. Of course, it's not exactly like flying the real thing, but it's pretty close. I had the opportunity to edit the file, and I could not improve on what they had. They actually built and flew an AeroCat, and modeled it from their flight experience.

Andy,

I will have to go back through my records, but I think my static amp readings were higher than either one of those you are reporting. I recall something over 20 amps with a 2100 Pro Lite. Static readings can be deceiving if you just ram the stick up and record the highest reading.

I run the motor at 1/4 to 1/2 for 20 seconds or so, then nail it for 5-7 seconds and use those readings. It is not good to run these motors static for any period of time.

Your readings sound a bit low to me. What is your method?

Howdy Scott.. I tryed your method...1/4 throttle for 15 to 20 sec. then nail it for 5 to 7 sec. and it stayed right at 14.35 amps give or take a 1/4 amp or so. ESC is a CC35, and also tryed a CC25 same thing.

Crazy thing though..the plane fly's great...as far as I know anyway, ..Just wondering if I was maybe missing out on 3 or 4 amps of fun. I wondered if it was my "WATTS UP" Amp meter but all my other aircraft read normal, Hmmmm.?

No complaints here though..Love the Cat and saw the video of the Aero Sport...you will be getting my order this weekend along with another CDR Double.

Thanks

Andy
