You know what?

I give up, and just faced the fact that I got what I paid for. Maybe it was just a selling point, but I should have known better. It's too late now, and it's not the end of the world. I can still get my whirly bird in the air, I just have to tighten the blade grips down a bit that's all. I hope my walkera 30A ESC craps out on me whenever, so that way I can buy a new and better ESC to replace it. Unless somebody out there share the secrets on how to program the thing.

I have a Walkera #35, and bought the Walkera brushless motor and 30A ESC combo. In my heli, with cheap 1300 mAh LiPo batteries, I get about 12 minutes hover time.

I havent seen any posting on how to program the soft start, and as a number of cheap ESCs dont have soft start, I would guess that it doesnt actually have it. It does, however, have programable brake, as I found out by accident. DONT use it in a heli!!

I find, to overcome too much torque, I advance throttle to around 1/2 then back down to quarter, and do it VERY quickly. This stops too much stress on the gears, as you are really getting the motor to just start, then back to low speed. The motor will turn over pretty slow once started.

After a bit of practice, you find just the right spots and speeds.

ok so i know this is a very old thread im dragging up here, but i bought a wk-wst-30a rebranded as a RCSmart esc, it was my first brushless purchase and it was off ebay, after i couldnt get it working properly i went to CC and jeti controllers, and this one sat in my hobby box for atleast 18months. anyway now trying again to program it i have made some headway so ill run you through it.

-push the throttle stick to full

-plug in the esc

-you will hear the multi tone twice quickly (in a low throttle start you hear it twice quickly followed by the 2 arming beeps)

-you will then hear the multi tone once, follwed by one beep, this beep is a question (i dont know what this question is) to change the answer to the question from what is already set, move the stick to the low position, you will hear the multi tone twice to confirm

-after answering a question:- to continue with the programming push the stick to the full position, it will then start at Q1 again
- to start flying remain in the low position and you will hear the two arming beeps

-if you have not answered the question (by leaving the throttle in the full position) it will repeat about 3 times before moving on

-you will then hear the multi tone followed by 2 beeps, this is the second question, this question is about the brake position, answer it as above or move on

-the esc will continue asking questions up to question 4 (i do not know what they are, presumably about startup, timing and cutoff voltages and such but i dont know)

-after question 4 it will play the multi tone 4 times quickly (im not sure what this is, it could be another question cas it repeats the same number of times as the questions do)

-the questioning sequence will then restart

this is all i've been able to figure out by messing around with it a little, but it should fix the problem you have been having with the brake, hope it helps

Chris
