I am about to start building a GP Patriot. Any tips or problems that I need to know about? (It will have mech. retracts) thanks.

Invest in a decent set of retracts, don't use the cheapos, I had to replace my Hobbico nosegear twice, and I'm constantly adjusting it for slop. This is a very good airplane, and I'm sure you will enjoy building and flying it, as I have. It was a by the book build, I wouldn't change anything. What engine are you using? I have a SuperTigre .51, 10x8 prop, with Mac's quiet tuned pipe in mine. Very impressive flight speeds. Without the tuned pipe it was a so-so flier. I would definetly recommend the pipe. It balanced with no extra weights needed.

nineflyer....I have built 4 Patriot kits, plus one I blew up the plans 25%...a very good kit(for some reason GP dropped this kit) Ditto on the retracts...Get the Great Planes retracts 60, with the 3/16 wire.. the hobbicos are mickey mouse....I flew mine with a Webra Speed 50 and mini-pipe..perfect engine, very light and a real powerhouse...clocked on radar at 127mph level and 140 in a dive. plus it can be slowed down to land like a trainer..go for it...
