XJet -> Cost of Optic 6 bug fix? (8/16/2005 10:20:00 AM)

I have a Hitec Optic 6 (from the first or second batch to hit US stores) and after a friends locally (New Zealand) purchased Optic developed the Flash memory problem, I suspect that it's only a matter of time before mine also fails in this way.
Hitec USA have stated that they won't honor their warranty for goods purchased in the USA but used elsewhere in the world so I'm wondering how much would it cost to have it repaired by Hitec USA outside the terms of the non-existant warranty?
ie: how much (over and above shipping costs) to have the manufacturing or design fault that causes this problem fixed if I have to pay for it?
