Does anyone know of a Canadian balsa wood supplier that I can buy from? I need to buy $500.00 plus. Any suggestions?
The Canada/US softwood problem would problably limit me to a Canadian source. Any opinions on this?

The Canada/US softwood problem has nothing to do with Balsa. You can buy balsa anywhere. There is no special duty on this. As a matter of fact, there is no duty since its model airplane material unless your building a super tanker

In Winnipeg you are only a toll free call from greathobbies.com where I bought my balsa tree for a large twin otter project.

I dont know that they will discount for a large order but you will certainly be able to buy the large packs and shipping wont be bad

Check their site out online and call or email to get on their mailing list. Better yet make the thirteen hour drive to their Edmonton location and stock up. The other store is in PEI, quite a bit further.

Thanks, I checked out Greathobbies.com and their prices are about 20% higher than I can buy locally for.

Thanks for the response anyway.

Newflee,

I just happen to have a place that is almost in my backyard, what a convinience.

The name of the place is Don's Bass & Balsa Wood. He is in Grimsby, ON and only deals with phone inquiries. If you want to call him and ask him what his terms are, here is the number:
(905) 945-5647

and his fax is:
(905) 945-4169

Tell him that Don from Smithville, ON sent ya.

Hope it works out for ya....Don H.

AMR is in Canada and they do sell Balsa and Ply as well as their kits. I never really compared prices as I am sure shipping to the states would push the $$ too high. You may want to check them out.

Lee,

Don's balsa in Grimsby, ON is you best bet. he can cut any size and length needed for the sheets and sticks.

I have ordered from him in past, excellent service......can't go wrong with Don.
