KK is just two-part epoxy paint, right? is there something else in there that makes it so bad?

I believe the solvent base is xylene.

spent several hours yesterday wet sanding the fuselage with 400 grit. i'm not a big fan of wet sanding because of the mess but it does give a nice surface. as you can see i managed to put a lot of hangar rash on the fuse (and wing) which had to filled in. i also made the mistake of not roughing up the FM before priming and it's peeling away in places which will have to be sanded away before repriming. also need to add any remaining panels before re-priming. the wing will be getting the same treatment today.

thanks for the tip damiani but i don't think that's available in my locale. unfortunately, living overseas sometimes has it's disadvantages and this is one of those times. i'll have to go the old fashioned route and just scuff it with sandpaper. thanks for the suggestion though.

after wet sanding the wing and filling in a few more dents i added the remaining panels with aluminum tape. the same with the fuselage. now to fill in the holes in the center of the tape created by the circular cutter and reprime.

yeah, the radiator flaps move in conjunction with the control flaps per BT's plan. i showed their construction further back in the thread but here's a couple of pics of how they move.

Tim The picture I have of a real 109E shows part of the scoop mounted on the flap. At least it appears that it does. Thanks Rich

Tim,
Its coming along very nice! Shes a beauty.

If the weather holds Ray Johns may take my HE-162 up for its second flight. Maybe the retracts will work this time.

Richard,
looking at the pics, Tim is having a problem with paint adhesion, sooner or later any paint will peel without a good primer base. that's painting 101. yours looks great btw
been watching your build with all interest.
Mike
