I have a question about both of these receivers. I fly JR , and i am looking at the Hitec flight packs instead of JR. I believe that the 3800 will work with a JR transmitter, not sure about the 3500. The 3500 has a selection for fm/ppm and will not work with the JR trans? If I understand it correctly, the 3800 will work with the JR trans and also has the fm/ppm setting? I have also heard that the new Hitic radios will have the 3800 receiver? Hope someone can help explain this. Thanks!

I order all my Hitec stuf from www.servocity.com

I usually order the 3500 from them as it's good with my Hitec Eclipse or my Futaba 9C (as is the Hitec Spectrum module).
The 3800 is the Supreme Shift Select RCD3800 it has a jumper that lets you use any of the big four TX's.
I got one from servo city when their stock must have run low as I didn't order any different.

I would call them and see if they have the RCD 3800 if that's what you want. I like the one I have but THe RCD 3500's work great too

Hey Chook,

Check out the Magnum 8 receiver from FMA Direct. Auto shift will work with any PPM transmitter and you don't have to change a thing. It's automatic and one of the finest and smallest (<5 oz.) units out there. Fred Marks' designs are well respected and they back them well.

The 3800 has one channel less than the 3500. Both will work equally well with any brand of radio. You must order the JR version of the 3500 where the advantage of the 3800 is it is shift selectable to work with JR or Hitec/Futaba.
