Here is the cockpit kit that I am going to put in the Hornet. It is a 1/12 scale instead of 1/10 like the Hornet, but it will work fine.
I have used these before and I think they look great.

hey phantom

this is a great project you got going here. i have a balsa f-18 im going to layup here soon. my 18 is the same size as yours and i plan final weight to be 10 lbs when the layup is done. was just wondering what engine you planed on using with yours. i have been told a os .60 would work with mine but id like some power. also have you considered ducted fan units? whats your thought on using fans for our application ?

keep up the great work jim

Thanks guys,
I am considering a Rossi 60/65 with a small tuned pipe. I have been told that there is not a very large selection of pusher props available for larger engines. I thought about a ducted fan engine, but I didn't want to go through the trouble making changes to the kit. Just too much trouble.

I have one of these waiting in the wings to be built. Planning on using a Webra speed 80 with tuned pipe. My question which I have asked before but never got a response, can the front housing on the Webra be turned 90 degrees allowing it to run in the reverse direction? I was told this was possible by 'someone', but have never seen any discussion about it. If this is true, it certainly opens the possibility of more props to use. Thanks, Rick

Sorry, but I don't know the anwser to your question about the Webra 80. I have never had a Webra engine. There is another factor
to be considered with the engine size and prop size. The prop can't be too large ,because it will hit the ground when the aircraft
rotates for takeoff. 11X7 is the prop size that seems to be what works best. An engine larger than a .60/.65 would be too much
for that size prop.

Hello,
Here are a few pictures of the hornet now. I made a couple of servo mounts to fit in the nose wheel bay area.
One is for the nose wheel steering and the other one is for the retract toggle valve.

This is a picture of the left wing showing the simulated hinge for the wing to fold up. i made it from a small piece of
bass wood by glueing it to the wing, sanding it down, and using a roto tool I cut the lines in it. Just trying to add some
detail to the surface of theplane.

Here is a picture of the missile rail that I carved from balsa. The white plastic piece that comes with the kit just didn't look very good
on the plane.

Lynn,
I got it on Ebay. You can find them every so often. Do a search in Hobbies and toys for "cockpit kit".
