I bet Gerard is loading new videos because he was modifying his ASH-25 to be self launching.

Hi Folks!

Unfortunately my server crashed and I have to rebuild it so the links are dead...
New videos are not existing so far ( ) because I have limited time to fly and when I´m flying nobody wants to take the cam - everybody wants to watch ...

But I will post news on this forum.

Greetings
Gerhard

MY ASH-25 is basically done, I just have to balance it out so I got the weights today. I am using a new up and go with an AXi motor that rotates a 5 blade folding prop on a retractable arm; I have tested it and it seems very powerful and coupled with a sequencer looks cool as it retracts back into the fuselage. The fiberglassing on the model is really well done and is reinforced with carbon in the right places. For example, when I removed the tailwheel to install the rudder servo, I saw carbon fiber in the tail at the base of the rudder on both sides, a place where T-tails tend to flex and twist a bit; the wings are really reinforced!. Hopefully I'll have more imfo and photos. J

If any of you are in the NY area, bring your scale planes to our Aerotow:

Hey Gerhard. How's the ASH-25 with the self launch working?? I have not flown mine yet, I have been very busy. My ASH came stock with a self launch system and when fully completed weighs around 28 lbs. I may fly it tomorrow or early next week. Would you believe that it fits in my Volkwagen GTi with rear seats down and rudder removed? I wish I could post my pics to this site, but the cheepo camera I use won't post. Do you find the sailplane as nice to fly with the added weight of the Self Launcher?

Hello. sorry about getting in here and replying but i just had too. OH my lord 7meters unreal.

I just started flying not to long ago, and have a Kyscho ceiro 2m glider. I took it up one time and flew for about 10min. then landed, 2nd time took off and when time to land crashed it. So i got mad and bought a 3m thremik dream, cause iam not learning my lesson yet geeshh!

Will not fly this one until i have instructor. But have a question heres the site for this 'thermik dream: http://www.icare-rc.com/power_glider.htm

They list Three types of power set up, what do you think would be the right choice for this glider.

Would like to have some powerful, yet beable to fly as long as i can battery wise.Any info would be great. Just hope i can find this post again.
Thanks!!
DD

My advice is to call Etienne' Dorig at Icare, he is reliable and will be able to give you the best imfo as to which motor will be best for your sailplane based on how you want it to perform and what you want it to do. He will advise you on a battery set up etc. Also, go to www.radiocarbonart.com and look for the "Performance Tuning for Gliders" DVD/video; it will guide you through all the steps for a successful setup of your sailplane.

Definitely, if you can, get your AMA membership-if you don't already have one- and join a club or at least join a club or find a experienced RC sailplane pilot. I can tell you that I crashed a few myself when I first started and have even done it as someone with experience. It's best to be cautious with your investment and have everything in place you need for your first successful flight. Hope this helps and Happy Landings!

Thanks JP,
Did order the DVD you mentioned, sounds like a alot of info i could learn. Cant wait for it to arrive.

The thremik dream glider says S7012 airfoil is that good? higher the number mean better?

I guess I'm looking at this glider to just soar above tree top level, and more or less learning to land better.

Using the airons up! and flaps down! does this make the glider slow so much i could catch it? instead of landing it on hard ground.

Sorry about the goofy questions JP heheh

No. Don't even think about trying to catch a plane like this.

I haven't flown the Thermic but the control positions you described are called, "CROW." Crowing the control surfaces does slow most sailplanes down significantly but before you try to catch your Thermic I would do a number of approaches with the crow programmed in to see how well it slows. I do this with My Omega 3 Meter but it has a very wide speed range and I have hand caught it numerous times. By the way, I think that Richard maybe telling you not to catch a 7 meter ASH-25; Which I would not do since it weighs over 25 pounds and is moving at a good rate! JP
