martinoto,

If you don't mind building from plans, MAN has the Arrow( FSP06802). It would sure compliment that VF.

Turbo,

I don't mind building from plans. But in the case of the Arrow, as far as I remember, the wing of the MAN's plans are foam. I just can't do a right and light foam wing, and I am quite good at wood wings..
Thats why I was looking for an MK Kit. If I could get an all-wood plan, I would go for it.

Thanks

I never thought on that one... I guess it could be done...

I could also figure the aproximate rib foil and then print the ribs with Profili...

I am going to take a look to the plans again...

Thanks and regards

I can generate a set of ribs in Profili using the root and tip templates, make a cutfile in cad and you can have sets of laser-cut ribs made. I've done this several times over the last year or so. It's quick, easy and relatively inexpensive.

Someone just needs to email me the templates (and the wing's exact dimensions). A digital copy of the plans would be best.

You need to put that VF to use.

David, thanks, I will.

I have Profili too. I will buy the plans fron MAN and let you , know (it will take few weeks to get here)

Definitely, it will be great to (finally) see the VF in the nose of an Arrow (don't ask for pictures, I am not as good as you building from plans )
Thanks and regards

Great thread guys! Thanks for posting pics of some of the old engines. I started with the old Enya .60 II and was using YS .60's when I took a 10 year vacation from R/C. To a great extent, I think the available engines determined the development of pattern planes over the years 1965-90. I'm going to post some pics of older pattern radios that I think might be interesting. The Enya 60 II and III were fantastic engines. They always started on one flip, idled smooth as silk. As far as I know, parts are still available for them! I spoke about a year ago with a gentleman at MRC, and suggested they think about making a "Classic" or "Commemorative" run of these engines. He replied "I don't why Enya doesn't. I could sell every one they could make!" Phil Kraft used these in all of his famous designs up until about 1970 when the Webra Blackhead came out.

The OS .61VF is a good engine. It was one of the first rear exhaust engines made for the average modeler, if that makes any sense. Mine ran acceptably well and was very reliable and long lasting.

I bought a used one not long ago. This one needs a good soaking in some warm antifreeze, but will look like new when cleaned and fitted with new bearings, etc. The piston/liner seem to be in very good condition. I do have a standby piston/liner for the engine, but am hoping to get some more use out of the original it came with.

Please keep in mind that while these engines throttle well for their intended use, they are not the type of engine one would use for 3D flying. In the "olden days", most flying was done at wide open throttle and as long as the engine remained running and did not stumble horribly while accelerating from idle, we were happy. Fuel draw with the stock carb was marginal. Most folks used a pump of one sort or another with these engines. Ditto the .61 FSR series, which was fitted with the same carb as the VF.
