Status: offline 		Yeah, he talks funny but knows his business. I met his former racing partner, Johnny Rutherford a couple of years agon at the Indianapolis Pacer Center at a Race Car Equipment Expo. Jack Roush was there as was Joe Gibbs. It was an honor to be standing and looking at the same engines as Jack Roush since I've been accused wearing Ford underwear.

Status: offline 		I had a 1.30 twin and a 90TS twin and a 90 triple but sold all about a year ago. No twins at all right now. When our daughter had the stroke in Feb. 2009 my wife and I quite litterly spent ourselves broke over the next two and one half years. We are playing some big time catch up that required some sacrifices. Thanks to many well wishes and prayers on her behalf from you folks and many others she now has a job at an ACMoore, she walks with a slight limp and talks a little slowly but once again has a sharp mind.

I hope to own some more twins one day. Here is a shot of the 1.30 as I experimented with two Clines on it, it ran perfectly.

Status: offline 		Hobbsy i empathise with your run down and rebuild of your Saito collection.  Been there and currently heading back ther again.  However I had a good friend that holds onto these things for me against better times.  Collections of such things as models (and all the bits including engines) become part of you and the value to you is far ahead of any realised value.  My book collection of things aviation and military and PNG are to some people priceless but would not realise anything at a firesale
Hang in there pal it all works out in the end.

Status: offline 		OF, a lot of fans aren't aware of the race circuits in Australia, etc. John Force basically began drag racing there when his car was able to make it down the strip.

OTOH, the first American top fuel nitro funny cars I saw were Swedish owned at our airfield in Germany. Go figure.

Status: offline 		Ole, as he was called back in the day, Johnny Rutherford is a tall Texan, very friendly, I was honored to meet him. Being a GearHead myself he and I could speak intelligently about things automotive. I was at the Expo with my brother John who used to race stock cars on dirt. I was his suspension guy. His last car, a limited late model had 122 adjustments on the chassis. We had to keep a book listing all changes and the cars reaction to them. We had three 358 Chevy engines for the car, a 420hp one, a 505hp one and a 555hp one. The 555 was seldom used. The 420 and the 505 were "user friendly" on the track, the 555 was the equivalent of sledge hammer on the track. A Saito is a no brainer compared to that.

For those that need the tiny O-Ring that goes into the spraybar under the High Speed Needle Valve, let's just assume that you cannot get it. You have to buy a new spray bar.

Status: offline 		With all those small difficult to get o rings go to your nearest aircraft supplies shop.  The one that deals in hardware, parts and bits of parts.  In my day and Aviall (a division of Lycoming) had a yellow Parker O Ring triangle on the counter.  You slide your o ring over same and the line it rested on gave you the basic p/number.  The o ring x section was measured to get the required dash number.  You then matched the application, fuel, oil, gas and if synthetic was required and then you came up with an applicable partnumber for an o ring that if you were lucky cost the right side (for you)  of $20.00. 
Mike, Saywells (or its new owner) in the UK even has those old felt scrapper rings as well as every pommie, french (wash my mouth out, Airbus yuk yuk to the 10th power) and US  O ring manufacturers wares  known to man and forgotten by most.
Just a thought for you to consider.
This advice is applicable for any one who lives near an airport that has a repair facility, cause you'll definitely find what you need there.

Status: offline 		For all the poor people who live elsewhere in the world a couple of thoughts (before we get back to topic)
1/ Apart from the Minis and the european escorts (driven by european drivers and ably assisted by Aussies no "foreigner" has won Bathurst.  2/ With the advennt of Nissan (they did run skylines once as I remember) and Mercedes next year how are Ford and Holden (chev to every one else) going to fare.  However Aussie driver dominance will prevail.  Bathurst is a cow of a circuit that spits out people who treat it lightly.  For the baby boomers, remember Movietone news leader at the picture theatres, that Viva that rolled at Hells corner was driven by my dad and became the first convertable version in the world.

Status: offline 		Ran the 100Twin today. First time I ever heard a Saito Twin run. Using a 13x8 K-Series MA prop. Turns about 9200 RPM. Idles 2100 with no heat on the Type F's. First time I ever tried to tune a twin, and with Air Bleed, to boot. Little bit of a learning curve there. Dropped a cylinder on the 2nd flight. Not really sure when, but only noticed it when taxiing back. Tuned it some more and I think I have fixed it. Best sound I ever heard at our flying field. Uses less fuel than I feared. 12 ounce tank will give 15 minute flights I think. Has the flex pipe exhausts. It would sound better with the straight pipes.
