Thanks Jim, where you been bro?

OF, I don't fool around with checking temperatures, to me that is a total waste of time.

Gunny, my Dad tried a Poly Choke once on a Remington shot gun. He soon realised that it was a waste of money and the barrel was ruined when they cut a couple of inches off of it.

Saitos are so straight forward that very few gadgets and gizmos effect them, the TurboHeader is one that is a worthwhile addition. This velocity stack I made to replace the intake horn I chopped off to clear the firewall on a RCM 40 did notheing for performance, it did not change the performance either.

This idea didn't work eithe, nor did moving the crankcase vent to the cam cover. I guess that makes it an idea whose time never came.

Gunny, you are on to something.

You only put bayonets, bigger clips, and scopes on guns. (slings count as being part of the rifle)

You only put velocity stacks and turboheaders on Saitos. And props.

You can put girls on motorcycles, but only on the back of them. No windscreens, saddlebags, extra lights, etc.

Hobbsy, yeah that crankcase vent on the cambox looks good. But it may or may not work as expected.  But that fitting is a good idea, as you can use it to squirt some oil into the cambox from time to time.

Well those finned rocker covers may have the right amount of bling for some, was thinking if they do have a cooling affect i'd fit them to my gas twin to help with exhaust gas temps. Also have a couple of tightly cowled glo saito's that may benefit some.

I have been wondering about those "pretty" rocker covers.  One might be moved to do some tests however I think red rocker covers on my competition models would get me laughed of the field and be a demerit point or 2 on the scale jobs with the cylinder hanging in the breeze (out of the cowl)

If you put an inlet check in the back cover & an outlet check on the cam case it does a wondefrful job of forcing fresh lube over the main craink bearing & the cam lobes.

A similar system is used on the 300TTDP for fuel pumping as well as the 220 Big Bore Carb.

Even on 15 Cool Power I saw significant throttle response & prop spool up improvents W/the 220 BB Carb W/pump in my FA180HC/CDIBBC engine. It made 3.95HP W/an 18x10 Dynathrust @ 8950RPM burning O'Donnels 30% Speed Blend 8% oil.

Even @ 8% lube the pump forced plenty of oil through the cam housing.

BTW, the (brand name) Poly-Chokes worked OK. They just looked like crap & were supplanted by the screw-in choketubes.

I don't think heat dissapation would be significantly changed, but sludge formation should be reduced tremendously by thwe positive exchange of crankcase gases. I still have slight WOTsurge while the fuel level is high & I won't be able to do any more testing for a while.

I had my right knee sawed off last monday for a total replacemnt so right now I'm in the "old folks home" for rehab. Took me 3 days to get imternet clearance, still no youtube or FaceBook!

They said they didn't like my looks & disruptive attitude!

Hobbsy, do you get a few more rpm's with the Turbo Header or just the sound? I keep thinking about trying one.

Ernie, on all the Saitos except for the 1.25 there is a gain of 190 to about 300 rpm depending on which one. For some reason the 1.25 does not respond to the TH. I've said often that the 1.25 is a 9,000 rpm thumper no matter what prop you put on it, within reason of course.

Comment o the mods I have seen lately.
The velocity stacks can improve fuel consumption.  Saitos tend to spit fuel at times, the velocity stack will retain those small amounts (very critical in Texaco events)
The staight line intake.  A measured intake length can improve rpm figures but it has to be very carefully matched to engine.  Has been done here on numerous OS four strokes however the increase isn't worth the effort on a Saito in my opinion.
On these turbo mufflers they look similar to the new mufflers that Saito is fitting to the current crop of engines.  Comments please.
Also in a local magazine it is said Saito is recommending a particular brand and type of oil, Klotz R50 principally for the gas engines but also for the "normal" 4 strokes.  It is a racing synthetic marketed by the local Saito agent (distributor)   Likewise comments please

I have a new saito FG17 and I am having problems with it.  It runs for about five minutes then quits running.  I have sent it back twice, but Horizon says it bench tests fine.  I am running it inverted with a 14X7 3 blade MAS and a Keleo exhaust.  They bench test it upright with the stock exhaust and a 2 blade 14x8.  Anyone running this engine with a Keleo exhaust having this problem?  Also I got it back from them and the pickup was loose and could be slide from side to side.  Frustrated with saito as this is my first one.

Saito & RCEXEL's sensor design is so problem prone compared to the way C&H mounts the components.

In trying to make the set-up "idiot proof" they have merely raised the idiocy bar.

I'll be down for the winter. I'll probably get home for Christmas, but as soon as I get limited use of the right knee, the left is going under the knife/saw.

In the mean time, I'm livening things up at the nursing home.
