Thanks for the advice! An 82 sounds big to me for the wing loading on this aircraft, but I guess you can't have too much power for 3D. I did a comparison, and the 72 and 82 engines are listed at the same 16oz weight, so might as well go with the 82.

I am still curious what size wide 3D prop could you spin on a Saito 56 or a Saito 72? I have these engines on other aircraft, and wanted to know what 3D props you recommend?

Yeah its the same so might as well ehh. I also posted to the BEC thread. Ive done much of the lightweight hunting already for my plane. You can cut that RX pack down to 1200 2s Lipoly also. Think they are like 2.3-2.6 ounces if you can find the older Ecotec packs.

Have Fun !
Mike

the miracle switch (regulated switch) from MPI (6v version) plus a 2s lipo around 1000mah will easily save a couple of ounces. you have to use a regulator of some type w/a lipo. the rx doesn't want anymore than 6v, not 6.1 or 6.2v, ect. the 5cell nicad/nimh runs well over 6v when charged, not good for the rx. the miracle switch has a safety that if something goes wrong w/the switch, it just stays on, instead of loosing contact and connection.

it's minimum for a 10lb a/c. i had an edge 540 @ 7lb w/os 91FS pumped w/apc 14x6 @ 10k. flew great but not unlimited vertical. saito 1.00 w/14x8 would probably been perfect. they give a range of engines, if you can go to the highest, you can always throttle back. @ 10lbs, it needs more muscle to do any good aerobatics. the bipe has lots of lift, it will climb, but for vertical you need power. the 1.25 w/16x6 or 15x8 (if you need ground clearance). or ys fz 1.10-s if you can, that would definitely be hot.

On the Saito 72 the idle screw usually adjusts close to being .040" below the surface of the throttle arm.

The engine will generally idle better with a plastic prop.

The needle valves are made adjustable so they can be positioned for the best compromise between idle and acceleration.

Thanks for the tip. Where do you get the MPI switches?

Most of the spektrum receivers can take up to 9.6v.
