Jim, it ran the same no matter what prop, it was 67 here today though. I didn't look specifically for that but had it got hot I would have heard it rattle. It still baffles me why the APC rpm is so low. It gave the TurboHeader a good work out too. It runs the smoothest and has the best idle with the MasterAirscrew Classic 16x6, it really wakes up with that prop. The TurboHeader has a unique throb when using the MA 16x6 at 9,300. It makes ya smile.

Hobbsy, The APC is a heavy prop that would account for some, but that does seem low for that prop. I am running a 15x6 APC around 9300, so maybe it is not low. The Master Airscrew is a little lighter and they flex more. I have not tried the MA with the TurboHeader. I have a 16x6, I will try it.

Jim

Hello all. I tried searching the thread, but must not have used the right words. My Saito 100 suddenly won't advance past 1/2 throttle without going lean and quitting. It has run flawlessly for about 15 gallons with only occasional valve adjustments. While at the field, I checked all the fuel lines and found no leaks. Now, back at home, I've pulled the engine and carb and see no apparent problems. I have a new carb gasket set which includes FIVE rubber o-rings and one metal washer. I don't seem to have an exploded view of the carb in my stash, but surely someone here must know where all these go. Of the 5, I've located the two big ones (one on each ends of the manifold), the metal one at the top of the manifold and the little chubby one on the low speed needle. Do the other two on or near the high speed needle? One is very fine and seems like it would fit on the threaded portion where the high speed needle goes and the other looks like it would fit on the high speed needle itself.

Thanks,

Erik

The skinny one goes behind the ratchet spring and nut that holds the spray bar in the carb body

There is one that goes inside the brass threaded portion of the needle valve body

There is a LS needle restriction in your carb causing it to shut off at part throttle or your fuel is old

Okay
Lets try this:

I have in my possession a vintage Saito G60FV gas ignition engine in NEW pristine condition that I am currently selling online but it is NOT listed here on RCU. I can't say where because of posting rules. Could anyone please tell me what kind of value this engine would be worth? I have contacted MECA and they tell me that they have no idea and "to check ebay to see what they are selling for"..... like this is a common, current engine. I also contacted a gentleman in the U.K. that has one pictured on his website but he states "This item is Not for sale". Here is a link to that site in the U.K. so you can get an idea of the engine I am referring to:

http://www.radiocontrolmodels.co.uk/EngineGallery/Japanese/Page4604.htm

I know that it's a rare engine and there are virtually no results with an internet search to get an idea of value. Here on RCU there are 6 posts that reference this engine.

I thought that you guys in the Saito club might be able to help me with this.

Thanks,
ama234

p.s. Mod, if there is any problem with this let me know and I will edit the post.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Maybe I'll just stick to the Jet forum as they actually offer assistance to outsiders. With this thread having over 10k posts I figured people would offer up some info on this engine. Maybe I should have started this post like: HI! I have a Saito 45...

So long.

What would you have us to say if we have no knowledge of that engine. I could make up something.

Hey Hobbsy...there was a guy here on RCU who knew ALL about them...and any other model engine known to man... remember loughbd?
He's over on RCG now as USNA71

ama234 you could go over to RCG and ask your question there perhaps?
Not trying to be a wise a$$ here...but loughbd was banned here on RCU...and theoretically can't respond.
Peace

Prop, I did know that but was hesitant to say the name of the other site. I thought it might be a no no.

It is worth precisely the amount for which someone is willing to write a valid check.

The unmentionable site is both elucidating and harsh. You have that engine advertised all over the world and you will find out exactly what it is worth.

Let us know!!!
