Hi Everyone:

We are getting ready here in México for attending next Q40 races at Guadalajara on the 15th of September.

Some really nice paint jobs have been done and here I share them with you.

Best Regards.
Victor.

Great jobs, especially like the green and white checkerboards.

I do applaud those willing to take the time to paint a fantastic looking Q40. I just don't have the skill or patience to do that with a plane that may not see tommorrow.

I think you jinxed him the two yellow plane pix are of the one that crashed at that race[:(]

Hey Dave, Yes. Along with my partner Dr.Robert Holik....we help each other out and are always together when painting. Super T's Ashley was painted a week and a half ago, and Robert's was painted on Saturday....I will get some pictures of his when it comes out of the booth. Jim Allen did a fantastic job with all the stencil's, and I cant say enough about him and his work.........you just give that guy an Idea..........and he's off and running with it.

The Super T hats are will be available through http://www.supertrc.com The new website is up and running, and adding products daily. The '06 Super T hat is not yet complete, but keep checking the website for release dates.
Super T shirts will also have the new logo

That's a pretty plane for sure.. I'll make sure not to post my Dago when I finish it... It would look like dog crap next to that... Maybe if I take the picture from really far away [:D]

Nice work Presta...

Well the old Dago lives again... After a "minor" mid-air in Houston I've got it back in color again... I haven't weighed it yet to see how much it gained... It's no Super T machine but it will be fine for me..

I guess you missed Monday Night FB huh?

diggs_74 -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (12/20/2005 2:51:00 PM)

I don't think of them as GB colors... Just colors you don't see too often... I shut off the game when the point difference was about 30... I'm actually not that big a GB fan.. Not compaired to most Wisconsinites anyway.

daven -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (12/20/2005 3:27:36 PM)

Hasn't anyone told you that its unlucky to race green planes????

diggs_74 -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (12/20/2005 3:46:58 PM)

I've heard that before but can't remember where or when... [;)]

daven -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (1/19/2006 3:35:42 AM)

Heres another green one, hopefully not unlucky. Bruce and Dan did a great job on this one, the picture doesn't do the green metal flake justice. Should shine nicely in the sun with a coat of race glaze :)

daven -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (1/19/2006 3:55:04 AM)

By the way, the plane above has plug in wings and a plug in stab. I think I can fit two of these in a relatively small suitcase.

diggs_74 -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (1/19/2006 2:01:01 PM)

They do break down to a pretty small box that's for sure... Here's mine. I don't know if our green is the same shade Dave but the metal flake in it looks great...

daven -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (1/19/2006 2:12:02 PM)

Looks like the same to me. I got the PPG paint number, hope to use this in the future.

diggs_74 -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (1/19/2006 2:20:00 PM)

How are you planning to do the canopy.. Do most just tape it down or what? I can't remember how Jerry Small did his but it was really clean.. He had it screwed down somehow.. I wish I would have looked at it closer.

DHG -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (1/19/2006 4:18:42 PM)

If it was Jerry's it wasn't screwed down, it was screwed up ... oh, hi, Jerry! [:)]

The latest ones come with a flange or fillet that extends out onto the wing, so taping is easy. Hooray for Bruce!

Lee,

When I made the master for the canopy, I had planned to use the extended fillets as an easy place to apply the tape. Most seem to be using the tape method.

Jerry small used small flat head sheet metal screws through the fillets on the canopy into the hard points into the wing. He backed the canopy up with epoxy to provide a good surface for the screw heads.

I am working on the instruction manual and hope to finish it this weekend.

I got the servos in last night... What a pain.. I ended up using a spare Seeker tray that I had... It will make it even more "fun" to put in the tank but I tested it and it will go...

daven -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (1/24/2006 10:21:46 PM)

The trick is getting it back out :)

garys -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (1/24/2006 11:14:03 PM)

Dave,
I've never had any issues getting stuff out of airplanes, it all seems to get thrown out when the plane hits the ground!

daven -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (1/25/2006 4:13:13 AM)

Gary, thats what happens when you have unlucky color schemes :)

diggs_74 -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (1/25/2006 4:33:54 AM)

Well to my amazement I can put the tank in and get it out without too much trouble.. Got it all done and in race trim... Just need the CG I guess...Once that's set she's ready for a maiden.. I guess it will have to be sunny AZ next month.. I hate going out of town with an unflown plane but I guess that's the breaks when you live in the frozen tundra...

daven -> RE: Nice Paint Job Pics (Q40´s) (1/25/2006 1:21:58 PM)

The flat tank isn't too tough to get out, but I had one of those stubby fat tanks in my first one and I had a heck of time popping that thing back out.
