This is all very interesting indeed.
As far as a Nelson or a Jett engine, yes I would take the back plate off and peak inside( like there might be some magic I can see) . Other than that, Both Jett engines and Nelson engines are "pre-run" before shipping, so any metal that might have been in them is LONG GONE or already damaged something. And I have a hard time believing that they don't properly clean there engines prior to assembly! We are talking about Race engines, NOT cheap sport engines. As far as a TT or any other cheaper sport engine, I would dissassemble and clean ,polish and refit everything that I could. I do use an oven when I reassemble these cheaper sport engines. I typically heat the case at 200 degrees for 15 minutes and then slam the bearings in. I bount the prop on the front and push and pull on the prop while turning it over till it is completely cooled down. This gives me th epeace of mind that the crank and bearings are aligned correctly with the case. I then reassemble the rest of the engine and break it in on small props .
Is my way better than any one elses,,,,probably not, maybe even wrong, but this is how I do it. There are a few other things I do that involve tooth paste and the crank shaft, but I would probably raise some eye brows and be shunned for life..lol . I will keep them to myself

Bob,
I prefer to squeeze half way between the middle and the end, on both sides, thank you.

ok here we go.

i did the brake in on a new engine with a q-40 cut down i inch at the tips. two tank of 12 oz @ 24000 rpm and still rich.
all this with the head at 13 thousands and the deck at 193. then i put and 8.8x8.5 and it wouldn't run close to 19000 rpm but y flew it @ arround 18000 rich a couple of times. now i have the deck @ 190 and the head at 10. you think i will improve over time to the 19000 + with the 8.8x9?

the other engine it's a rebuilt one and i did the same as above. but it's turning a bit over 19000 with a 8.8x8.0 hope it get's better with the heavier props. am i missing something here?, please tellme. i now this engines will run much better than that. i still have another new one on the bag but don't want to do anything with it until i figure what's going one with the others engines.

thanks

Its going to take some time, keep flying it rich. The new Neslon I started running this spring is just starting to come on after about 40 flights. I didn't put a heavy prop (8.8x9.25) untill after 25 runs.

Some spend considerably more break in time (2 gallon range).

Do you just like Homonyms? That's what I like about this sight. If it's not 2 much to ask.

I thought it was an unwritten thing that we all left grammar alone. Otherwise someone might point out that homonyms isn't capitalized, it is site not sight, and the number two isn't used in a text situation unless referring to a numerical amount.
