Cool vid man. It seemed like a lot of people cut the course in the vid or was it just me?

Hey, thanks a lot for the compliment!
Yeah looking at it again, a lot of drivers went off-course at some point. I don't think they had any advantage coming from that though. Remember this is our amateur class. The drivers of the expert class, to which you first have to move up to, drive much cleaner.

Now thats what seperates the men from the boys, learning as you go, i noticed the first couple times you hit the table top you ended up in the same spot, then I noticed that you changed your approach to it and had no problems after that, I also noticed the the other drivers kept makeing the same mistake which in turn nocked their chance's further and further behind. Very nice driving and nice vid. keep the camera man on a strict plan, less zooming on the side shots and more area views with the competition around you.

Hey i watched the video last night.. its great.. i like the fact that you change your approach on the table top.. thats what i called fexible.. a very good skill indeed..

I also downloaded the other 3 videos 'First Stirke', 'Swiss cup' and internal Combustion.. Man i feel for you in these videos.. you had some bad luck in internal combustion.. not to mention the tumble that caused your body to come off in the front causing it to pop up when you trottle hard causing drag..

Man the track in swiss cup looks so freakin nice !! I would love to have that kind of track in my back yard..(if i even have a backyard). First strike was simply brillant.. you pwned everyone else there..

I would like to say you have made very nice videos.. do make more in the future !! Lastly, heres wishing you good luck in the swiss championship !!

Thank you so much guys, your comments make it worthwile editing the videos!

Yes I really did have to change the approach to the table. For some reason the back end would just take off if you went on it too fast, and not even full throttle in the air could cure it. So I tried braking before the table (or not accelerating as much) so the car would just take a little hop and land at the end of the table or even on it. That worked out great and after the crash in the semifinal I did not crash on the table once in the 45-minute final if I remember correctly.
It's really been a great learning experience so far. I make less and less mistakes in every race I go to.

adeoliver, I will try to keep my cameramen on a strict plan, I can see the sense in your suggestions. The trouble is in almost every race it's a different one. And the best of them all, who filmed "internal combustion" and "retaliation", my brother, has just left to stay in England for one year.

We'll also revisit the track from "Swiss Cup" in 3 weeks, where our 5th championship race will be. I really look forward to it because I think it's the best track in our country.

Here's a video (not by me!) from last year's race on the track where we are going to this weekend. I hope the layout will be the same!

Again, thank you so much! I really hope I can become the Amateur Swiss Champion so I can go to the Euro's in Spain next year.

how extensive is your race prep for these championship races? do you practice with one buggy, and race another one? i ask because i just got an MBX5 about 2 months ago, and i am really suprised at how fast the front end has developed slop. i don't replace parts untl they break, but i am not racing a championship.

I just came back from the basement where I spent the better part of the day putting the buggy back together. Yesterday I took it apart and cleaned everything. Today I replaced all the parts that were bent, broken or sloppy, all the plastic bushings, two ball bearings, one front lower suspension arm that was totally twisted, and now the buggy is ready for this weekend's race. Basically I tear it down completely before every race. At the beginning of the season I used my old Hyper 7 for training. But I sold that one three months ago. I was then just using the MBX5 for races, so between races I simply had to clean it. Now that it's got almost 30 litres of fuel through it (been practicing once or even twice a week) and because I use it inbetween races, I do a complete rebuild before every race.
I've already got myself another X5, but I didn't dare to use it yet, except for spares. I think I'll use it next year for racing only and this year's car for practice only.

If your front end has slop, check if all the pivot balls are tight and replace the plastic bushings. After that it should be like new. I also replace all the ball bearings every second race or so or after about 7-10 litres. My front end was also really sloppy before I rebuilt the car but now it's like new.

Turanden, it's working for me. Try this link if it's still not working:

how is the chassis holding up? mine is pretty thin at the rear end of the buggy. in my case, it is attributed to stupid big jumps at my track, and i almost always orerjump the transfers. it is not that big a deal on the mbx5, but on the 777sp1, there are extruded areas to accommodate the lowered diffs. those areas ground down very quickly. i would say that the 777 chassis lasted about 5 gallons and i had to replace it for fear of exposing the diffs!

Hey, sorry for the late reply, we had a lot going on here.

The chassis in the rear is also getting pretty thin. I think it has about 2-2.5 mm left from the original 3. When I put in a new rear arm holder, which has a part protruding through the chassis, that part stood out a lot. I think I'll replace it for next season.

I've seen the 777 chassis and I'm surprised Kyosho put their diffs down so low that it actually goes through the chassis. I don't think this thing sticking out is a very good idea, especially going over jumps or bumpy areas.

We had our 5th championship race and it went very well. The track was brilliant, even better than last year I think. There will be a video soon, I've also been able to have some of the expert's final filmed and I'll put that in too. If you want to read the race report until the video comes out, it's on my page.
