They all do, until the crank breaks. <G>
***The only Magnum four-stroke that I have personally heard of having crank breaking issues when running 30% fuel (which may not have been the cause) was the .91 and that was a while back (several years ago). But it has made me watchful, if you know what I mean. I'm glad your friend's 1.80 is perking along happily.***

Could anyone tell me what there High speed needle setting is for ther .91 Magnum 4-stroke? My engine is new from TOwerhobbies.
I am running wildcat 2-4 stroke fuel 15% nitro All fuel lines have been checked and are in brand new condition!
I have broke the engine in according to MAN article... back in the winter months...
Anyway, I ran it last night and noticed it was extremely needle sensitive and I then discovered that the paper gasket ) had blown out a very small cunk (see gasket pict)on the carb pipe that connects to the head....
fixed that, and also found that you have to have this inplace(see below finger, how w/o gasket the cab does not allign.. all my magnum .91 are this way) in order for the carb tube to be in proper allignment.... It could almost use 2-gaskets to really allign it better!
Anyway... I have good fuel draw now, and it is still very needle sensitive, runs very rich unless I lean out the HS needle to 3/4 turns out from stop!!
Never had a engine this sensitive unless it had a pump on it!...... ' The engine runs well, but what are others getting for there HS Needle settings???????????????????????????
I have 2-more NIB .91 fs and could run these but not sure if I want to keep them if the engines are this goofy!
Also I do know that if the needle setting are just this way, that I can do a bypass fuel line that would spread the needle setting out.... The needle was compared to a new one and it appears to be identicle to the others...
Thanks Justin

well, all 3-engines have a space between the updraft cab beween the tube and the head of the engine!!!!! All 3- are defective!!!!! wow! China inspection of finished product?? I think not!
It is because there is too much metel between the engine back plate and the carb attachment plate! I shaved of some on the current plroblem engine and got it to fit flush, I even tried a different gas tank that came out of a funtana 100X and that worked great in that plane , but still.... Massive sensitivity and rich running! the carb was even fitted correctly by............ Inspector Justin!!!!!
I have a feeling that I am not the only one with this problem........... probly a entire run of engines......... Well, I will be returning 2-NIB for sure, not sure what I wll do with the current ran one?.....
I fixed the problem but it still runs too rich..... I can get it to lean out and run well, so perhaps that is what I need to live with????
I migh just try the fuel line tee-that pipes in the main fuel line and then send it back into the gas tank (excess gas pressure that is)
anyone else know what to do here ???
What the valves be the culprit of rich running???
ohh by the way the engine is on a GP piper cub and mounted sideways....

Updated!
i ran the engine with a diferent carb..... Same thing
I ran another magnum .91 brand new engine with a new cab ect... and it does the same thing
IT in not like the engine does'nt run well, it does... In fact it runs great, and will idle perfect ect ect...... But The carb fitting issue is something that has to be corrected by grinding for a good fit.. I guess I will keep 2-engines and send the other back, because: I paid the non discount price, and don't have a need for it
A nother person of the forums said that his engine runs the same way, so it must be the way the new HS needles are being made...

I still have 3 magums running at times. I will continue to use them till they die. The problems I have had with all that I have owned has been leaky mufflers and and poor carbs. The 2 cycles I have, run great when you put a Mac muffler and Perry carb on them. When you do all that you have spent enough that you could have bought an OS. I know some people get bad OS engines. I think even less people get a good Magnum. I am done with them. Ken

I am still waiting for magnum to own up to this mess about poor needle valve o rings, leaky mufflers etc etc etc. As long as you pilots continue to fix the engines instead of sending them back I don't beleive they will. I am even starting to see a common problem with OS engines not running properly after the first flight of the day. They become hard to restart unless you let them cool down significantly. I am becomming a ROSSI engines man day by day.

I went the route of Webra which I got from Horizion. I put 6 tanks of fuel through it and it lost compression. I thought that I must of got a miss matched piston and sleve. Horizion must of thought the same because they said they would fix it under warranty. I waited 3 months for parts. Finally when parts arrived I waited 2 more weeks then called them. I think they lost or through away my engine. At first they just wanted to give me a new Evolution engine but I told them I wanted the Webra because I had a special tuned muffler for it from Jett. I also informed the that an Evolution engine and Webra were not even the same class. They then informed me that they was no longer going to be having the Webra 55 but they would do their best to find me a replacement. As it turned out they they did provide me a new motor by converting a Webra Heli to a Speed 55. During this time I began to look for another type of engine. I came accross info on the Rossi engine which sounded real good. After contacting 2 hobby shops to ask about warranty work (1 of which only replied) I was informed that I would have to send it back to Italy for warranty work. Rossi did not sound any better then Webra. Perhaps though you have found a source here in the US that sells and repairs. If so I would be very interested in trying a Rossi engine. Ken

This may have been a while ago when the original ROSSI manufacturer was around MGRHS. I deal with a ROSSI rep in CALI. He is very nice and is accomadating me with a .60 carb. . his site address is http://shop.vendio.com/RossiEnginesUSA/home.html
If you use this link it not only gives you ROSSI engine info but the history on the company .

Boy they have awfull Customer Service. I have called several times , emailed twice and they never have responded.
HELP Please! I have a Magnum 52 Four Stroke. I am putting it in a GP Cessna 182. With the header that came with the engine I can't screw it in well and it burns the plane. Is ther another header I can get from some where with less of a bend?
