Status: offline 		Fred Reese designed Travel Air Mystery Ship in 1/5 Scale

I have a short kit of the 1929 Travel Aire Mystery Ship, which I purchased new last year and have not started. It is for sale at 350.00 plus shipping. My failing eyesight is forcing me to lose all of my planes.

Specifications:
1/5 Scale
70" wingspan
800 sq. in. wingarea
49" length

This is a Golden Age Model

Status: offline 		Thank you, do the bolts go all the way to the firewall of is there a nut inside the caps. My guess would be bolt all the way through so nothing comes apart. I saw in the pictures how Greg mounted the batteries and esc. I guess that means you have to pull the cowl after every flight, probably better that dropping the wing with all the flying wires.

Status: offline 		Bob, can you tell me how you mounted the radial engine when you cut away the front part of the fuse? I didn't think about that until I had already cut the fuse section back to mount the batteries and esc. Also, does you plane have the 2.5% of right thrust?. Thanks

Status: offline 		I don't remember if it is on this thread or the one on RCScalebuilders but someone said they had bought the rights to the kits and were selling the 1/5 scale TMS. I am lucky enough to now own two. One is almost ready to fly, I'm adding the power now

The Travel Air has always been a Classic airplane. I was curious if anyone had taken the Fred Reese plans and perhaps made an arrangement with a laser cutter to provide parts, etc.

Status: offline 		I kit the 1/5 and 1/4 scale Travel Air Mystery Ship Type R short kits designed by Fred Reese both are Fiberglass parts with patterns. 1/5 has most of the difficult wood parts.

I recently got my hands on an original Reese kit with the fiberglass fuse. I will be starting it in January as I did not want to start it and then have to break for the holidays. I would love it if this thread is revived.

This will be my first attempt at scale and I want to make it as scale as possible. There is another thread here on RCU where a gentlemen took the original plans and blew them up to a 122" size ship, he is in the process of sheeting it at this point.
