Status: online 		From reading the posts here on RCU many of the BME Yaks and the TOC Yaks are coming in at 17 pounds. With a wing area of 1350 square inches that is a wing loading of 29 ounces/ sq ft. that is with a DA-50. If this airplane comes in at 18 pounds with a MVVS 58 or ZDZ 80 and the wing area as advertised is correct that gives a wing loading of 28.66 ounces/ sq ft. Those sound like pretty good numbers to me and the power would be excellent with the MVVS or the ZDZ. But it remains to be seen if the numbers quoted from Lanier are correct, we can only hope.

Compared to all the other planes out there it is like 2lbs overweight. Not to mention every other plane has only 1 aileron servo. You should only need one and if you need 2 the aileron is probably weak and if they build the aileron weak what about the rest of the plane?

Coming in at 16 1/2lbs is still a little bit heavy for the wing area and with a DA50 wich is probably what you need for that weight, it would probably be just a little underpowered. Lanier hasnt built any good light 3d ships like TOC Or EF or BME or Carden Or aeroworks ....

but maybe I am rong or maybe you just want to fly IMAC but $100 more is well worth it for a plane that is just as bbig and 2lbs lighter.

Status: online 		That would be great information, everything in the box would have to weigh 10 pounds in order for this airplane to come in at 18 pounds with a 4 pound engine. It would be good if you would also measure the wing and check the total wing area to see if the advertised area is correct.

Status: online 		I emailed Lanier asking about the accuracy of the wing area and if this airplane would build to 18 pounds with a 4 pound motor and 2 ounce standard servos and the included hardware, well they assured me that the information was accurate. I am not going to hold my breath, but hope that it is correct.

The other option is a Aerotech Volex like Mark(Rcairflr) has. It is a sweet flying airplane.
So George has a couple on order and they are supposed to be in tuesday, Mark you know were you need to go now.

There is still some wiggle room here. 4 pound motor--is this with muffler, spark, ignition? How is the wing area calculated? What would be nice is to have a bare weight of the plane(with hardware) and wing dimensions to calculate wing area.

Status: offline 		Well... sorry guys. I was going to do all that for you today, but as it turned out, George has already sold BOTH Extra and the Edge. I'm bummed myself, as I was hoping to see it in person today. But I was somewhat reassured when he said that they are beautiful, and that they are built light and 3D capable. I take that to mean oversized control surfaces, and lightening holes throughout.

FWIW, he has another one coming in this Thursday, and I'll ask him to hold it for me first. I saw the manual, and the hardware looks pretty decent.

I just bought the Lanier Extra 330 (87" version). Not a single wrinkle - beautiful looking. I will weigh and measure it this evening.

You can calculate your own engine, radio, etc. FYI: True Flight Power Point 24x8 prop is 4.1 oz. I don't have the 4 1/2" spinner yet.

Wing Half Dimensions
LE 39 5/8
TE 41 1/2
Root 20 3/4
Tip 11 1/2
Max Airfoil Thickness is 3"
Aileron is 5 1/2" constant and run all but 6" from root.

LE is pretty close to (and looks to be) perpendicular from Root.

I came up with 1278 sq inches - but that is based on flat measurements of
the wing root and tip.
