Status: offline 		I have one. Mine is EI 34 in a H9 Cessna Skylane 182. Seems to run fine but it's not a good motor to have at this time becaause Fuji has discontinued distributing their engines to the public and parts will become scarce. I think their only selling their engines to the US government for use in drones...I think. Better off with a Zenoah, a DLE , a DA or anything else that has good support. Hope this helps.

Well they still do have some parts for them too.  But You see the same problem for many stores for many other items too. Not just this engine. What is a store owner to do if a company discontinues something they still have in stock? Then how about automobiles, where they shut down the entire company, but the dealers still have lots of cars to sell left in their lots?

But eventually Tower will move the engines over to their clearance sale section and then it may be a good deal.

Interesting you find this a moral issue. If you had an inventory of a product and find the manufacturer has discontinued production, what would be your moral action? I would do what Tower has done, which is to disclose the fact and let the customer choose. What would you do?

Status: online 		Well it appears that Tower is their distributor and will be selling engines and parts until they are NLA according to the Fuji website. If they don't move the remaining engines I agree they will be marked down until they do sell.

Status: offline 		I was quite interested in the Fuji 4 stroke gas engine, at least until I saw the price. Maybe they'll have a clearance sale on it one of these days.

It appears from the sticky that Fuji ceased production in 2003, it seems like very unusual business practice for tower to still be selling something 9 years after it went out of production.
Generally most shops have enough supply for 1-3 months, that's what I would have done, why on earth would you buy a decade's supply?
The dollar rate fluctuates all the time, sometimes you can buy the same thing for 10-20% less or more in a 6 month span due to this. 
New and better models come on the market all the time, very silly to have too much stock.
If I got caught out like that I would just sell them at cost price to wash my hands of them, but still get parts if available to customers that bought them.
If you look here http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJDJ5&P=0 I can't see anywhere that they state the engine manufacturer stopped production, yes they relesed a statement 9 years ago but the unwitting customer won't know that.
Its only if you click on the manufacturers web page that you would find that out.

Maybe Tower's inventory is from 2003?

The Mustang 50 was the same as the Fuji 50?

I think the Drone thing was just a way out from under the Fuji engines. If they are going to use them on Drones they better do something about there noisey ignition.I can not complain about them .

Status: offline 		The old date was from an old post that was edited with the new information. The edit date is 09/29/11.

We were surprised last year when we were told that Fuji-Imvac was immediately stopping production and all support of their product. We will support all the engines we've sold, however, as long as it's possible to do so. We have always taken that stance. and stated that in our post about the cessation of support for the Fuji-Imvac line of engines.

Status: online 		I have a Fuji BT-24 on my shelf. I will never use it again, and I won't sell it to anyone either.

I bought it to my ESM Hawker Typhoon after reading an article in Model Airplane News, featuring the plane with this engine.

This is some years ago now.( July 2008 )

The article was full of glossy pictures of this wonderful combo, and words about how well it flew with this engine.

Yet, when I tried, it was so weak, that I never managed to take off; The plane just cartwheeled and that was it.

I used the whole 200 meters (600ft) first, but to no avail.

It flew about 10 m (30 ft ) in a height of about 10 cm ( 4 inches) and cartwheeled until it stopped.

It was like having a .60 glow in the nose of a jumbojet.

( I never, ever, bought a Model Airplane News magazine after that; I go here and to RCSB instead, and I do not wish them well. )
