Hi Bob,
I just recieved my Sport Jett 50. Wow !

Since I ordered the engine I have changed my plans on what I'm going to put it on, and consequently will be ordering the black racing muffler. My question is, will the red Jett Stream muffler fit my Webra Speed 50 GT ? I haven't had a chance to pull the muffler off of the Webra and would rather not unless I know that the Jett Stream will fit. It looks close, but I'd like to be sure.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for writing. Good question.

The answer here is No. Let me explain.

We use to use the Jett and Nelson mufflers on the ST .40 and old Webra .40 q-500 engines for racing. The Jett original Jett spacing was the same as the ST40, and when provided with 4-40 screws, it fit just fine.

Current Jett is at 38 mm even (just a nice round number)
Jett 0.46-0.65 T 38 1.496 6x32

Webra 0.40 T 38.5 1.516 3mm 35mm
S.T. GS 0.45 T 38.5 1.516 3
S.T. S 0.40 T 38.5 1.516 3
Como 0.40 T 38.5 1.516 3

But more recently, I believe Webra joined the "OS Standard" club, and went to 37mm spacing on the Webra 50 - same that lots of engines have now. This is what I had in my file

Webra 0.50 T 37 1.457 3mm 35mm
Magnum 0.40 T 37 1.457 3
O.S. FX 0.40 T 37 1.457
O.S. FX 0.46 T 37 1.457
et al

If you have a chance, measure what you have for bolt spacing on your Webra. Might be a good way to at least confirm what I have in my notes.

If you edo have 38.5 spacing, and you do not mind drilling out the crankcase lugs (there is not a lot of material there) or heli-coiling the muffler for a 4-40 screw, then you will be good to go.

Bob

Thanks again Bob. I was kind of hoping, but no big deal for sure.
