I have a Jett in cowl muffler for my OS FX 91. It fits very close to the engine, which is a good thing to save space. However, when I put the engine in the mound, I can no longer get the muffler to fit flush against the exhaust port.

Am I missing a spacer or something or do I just have an extraordinarily fat engine mount?

Hi Kent, thanks for writing...

Yes, the installation is a little snug. Pressure line and throttle linkage routing require a little forethought as well.

I was looking at my design documents, but I did not have the actual adapter dimensions at my end here. I can check with Dub to see exactly what they should be.

The mounting adapter that comes installed to each muffler typically provide for a bit more than 3/8" clearance from the inside of the engine lug to the muffler surface. In general, this has proven to be adequate using most commercial engine aluminum and composite mounts.

You may notice that the muffler is not exactly 90deg to the mount... this outward cant was included to help with mount clearance, and also with the muffler fit within a radial cowl while keeping the tightest possible package.

If you need additional clearance, Dub can provide spacers. Just email him at jett@jettengineering.com or give him a call.

I hope this has been helpful

Bob,

Thanks for the info, just wanted to make sure I was not missing anything obvious here, I'll see if another mount fits better or contact Dubb to get a spacer.
