Aviator, when the tx batteries fall below 1.35v each, charging becomes very iffy.

Guys, I thought I would post a couple of pics of my newest planes next to a double stir stick Ace. The bigger plane has yet to fly, but construction is done. I hope you enjoy the pic's.

Garrett, It's flown twice, briefly. Run the motor up and drop it, off it goes. I have a smaller motor than the recommended one but a 3s battery, slower prop as well, but it was much quicker that I thought it would be so I was in too small an area to get aquainted. The second flight ended with a crash. It's repaired and assuming good weather, I'll take it to the big field tomorrow. I have the rates dialed down so at speed it's incredible, but going slow was a problem. I had my rates at 50% and 60%. Now they are 50% and 70%.

Man, doesn't anyone want to know how to fly the aeroaces anymore? I flew my x-twin jet this week end and it was fun. I may have to see what other aces I can get flying. I have fewer worries about losing them.

Meanwhile, since the wind is doing a grand job of grounding me I started a build from parts laying around. Here are a few pic's.

Does anybody know whether there is any charging circuitry ont he r/x board of an AA? Can I plug a lipo directly into the t/x to charge it, or do I need to go through the r/x?

Cobbler.

Cobbler, there is a little "tin can" style resistor(?) on the board between the power plug and the M7 chip. That protects the circuit from reverse polarity damage. It is also what causes the factory charge port from being used to charge with a lipo charger. I suspect that it also stops the charge at 3.7v.

Tim, Ive got a home made plane with starscream guts but the batt is a rolling fury 200 mAh. I get 25-30 min flights out of it and it takes 35-45 min to charge. Do you think i run a risk of damaging the rx or batt ?

Fly'n these three AA's lately. The first with the delta style wing
is the quickest with wide turns and a gradual climb rate. Motors
mounted in line with the airfoil atop extending mounts. Wingspan
is 12 inches and weighs 20 gms.
The second is modeled after the ARV Super 2 and has a wingspan
of 16 inches. No stall with its forward swept wings but no loops
either.
The plane at bottom has the best climb and practically flies itself
with a wingspan of 15 inches. Very stable and climbs nicely in
turns. All have a solid 3/32" balsa fuselage that's cut into two halves
with the rx mounted on a balsa center.

tornado, replace the broken parts with balsa or plate foam, scotch tape
will work also.

hey hey Nuerotex, those planes look great! i like the semi-profile fuses, looks like a full fuse when flying probably, but doesnt have the weight.

i built this recently and figured you'd like it...a full S&T wing no electronics yet, and a day or two ago a tree jumped smashed it out of the sky when i was trimming it , but its a fun build. i'll be ordering some nice thin foam for the skin on the next wing though, the tissue allows any building mistakes to show through on the shape of the airfoil (what a drag! bad pun intendid!).
