One of my next ideas is to rig up a big wing with a stripped down one-time-use video camera. Maybe it will be the first time an AA has been used for video flights. I have also been trying to figure out how I can make one with maybe 5 foot wing span that will use my storm launcher guts. The question is how to bend the foam that would probably need to be 1 inch thick.

You should be able to get by with 1/4 inch foam. Maybe something like the blue DOW fanfold insulation board that is found in hardware stores. To bend the airfoil just use the edge of a table or counter top. Use a little heat from maybe a covering heat gun will also help the foam bend and hold its shape a little easier.

The 1/4 inch stuff is good for use with aa guts, but I think the SL guts would be able to drive more speed and more Gs than 1/4 foam would handle well. I mounted SL guts on one of those big styrofoam gliders that you buy at the toy store for like $7. It was great, but every time I pulled up, the wings looked like they were going to snap.

I have an Aero Ace and just bought a Air Hogs Jet Scream. They are on different frequencies. I want get another Jet Scream for my son so we can fly them both together. I cannot find another Jet Scream that does not have a different frequency? I went to 2 stores and opened 15 models and they are all on channel "A". I cannot find a "B or C" channel. Does anyone know if it would be possible to change the frequency on a Jet Scream using the electronics from my Aero Ace???
The Jet Scream really outperforms my Aero Ace!

I think they are all channel a. You will ave to change teh channel yourself. This involves some pretty precise soldering, but certainly possible. You can search this forum or the AAToolbox for instructions on changing the channel on the TX and the RX.

I think so. I only had one for a short while - never flew it - before taking it back. I thought it was all the same guts as the AA, but with the fans instead of the props.

Cobbler

Use 1/2" fibre reinforced tape on those chuck gliders. Fold a strip lengthwise over the leading edge of the wing. Another top and bottom, under tension along the "spar". (The wing will warp up when you do the top, then the tension of the bottom tape will straighten it) You can also run 4 strips along the sides, top and bottom of the fuse. This will greatly strengthen the whole plane.

To make control easier, trim the Hor stab straight across the back and tape hinge a balsa elevator. Do the same to the rudder. If you are ambitious, you can trim the wing roots to remove the sweep. It makes a very stable airplane like this.
Cheers

Aviator, If they are the same as the rest of the aeroace line going from channel a to channel b or c is easy. Ok, relatively easy.

I crashed my trainer hard today and did some major repairable damage. Thats it, I'm going to get something cheap to learn on before I try again with the trainer. I went to WalMart tonight looking for an Aero Ace, no go. I did buy an Estes Sky Rangers Wicked Maneuvers for $26. I then went to the pitiful local K-Mart and what do you know, an Aero Ace bipe or single wing for $25. Needless to say I bought one (the bipe). I'm keeping it due to the obvious enthusiasm for the little planes and plan to fly it tomorrow (or try).

The question, should I keep the Sky Ranger as well or return it (I haven't opened the box yet)? $26 is not much, but I can return it and buy the single wing Aero Ace with the money. Any feedback? Is the Sky Ranger any good?

I was at my local K-Mart today and they had a new line of air hogs stuff. First was the Cyclone, its an indoor flyer kinda like a 2ch PBF. Then there was the Avenger, its a small omnithorp for indoor only and then there was a heli that is 2 havocs put together, i cant remember the name of it though. The avenger and Cyclone are 29.99 and the heli was 54.99.

My local K-Mart had a jet and a single wing for $24 on clearance. I was just about to get the single when my wife's voice popped into my head....."What do we need another one of those things for?"

I may get it yet because tehe jet I currently have for my son turns so slowly that it is hard for him to fly. He expects it to turn when he pushes the stick, and it really doesn't.

The single turns sharper than the jet, right?

btw - another hummingbird attacked tonight
