never mind about the compression thing.

i will try a new tank and see if it still has problems. i don't think it's the fuel tubing, because it was just replaced by me. although it is a bit loose, and i need to use a strip of the old fuel tubing to hold it on. could it be that since the tubing is a bit loose, that it won't suck the fuel through, or is this not a problem? i want to get this thing running ASAP.

When you say that the fuel tubing is a bit loose - do you mean that it is loose on the nipples?
Because it shouldn't be that!
You know that you can get fuellines with different inner diameter?
And that it is very important that they are the right size?

If your problems first occured after you changed the fuellines, I guess that we have found the reason.

I'll second that Engrose, but another problem here is the lack of experience, knowledge and common sense. Also the arrogance of not listening to advice (it doesn't have to be taken but to consider is often inspiring) is playing a part in drawing this one out. But if you read some of the comical posts from MM in other threads, I think we'll be geting more "My mayhems broken" threads from this guy.

i think it's the fuel tubing too. i'll change it out, and see if the problem persists

put the old fuel line on, and it stalls at a half tank. and it won't start unless it's totally full. why does it do this?

Do you have the capability to take a picture of your buggy? If so, send a pic of the car from above, so that I can see your fuel line routing. The length of your pressure line can have an effect on engine performance. Also, did you try what I mentioned here earlier?

MM, Are you sure your tank does not have a leak in the cap to the gas tank? Mine was running like crap this weekend and I found out the seal on the tank cap was worn. Did you also know you can adjust the seal to seal better. It has a hex screw to tighten the seal down. I ordered my new tank sunday. It sounds like you are not getting enough back pressure in the tank, check to see if your pipe nipple is not clogged or gummed up. lastly, check the back plate I had to reseal mine once before. hope you nail it down! Good luck.

Bill

the hex is kinda stripped. the guy seemed to have done that.

imma just try and get a new tank. if that doesn't work, then i'll buy new seals for the engine, and take the thing entirely apart, clean in out again, and put it back together. if it still doesn't work, i'll throw it out the window of my two story house, and see what happens.

Yeah forgot what I said about compression I really put it in a bad area on my last post. Its very obvious because you'll see fuel spitting out from under the head. Usually they don't run with a loose cylinder head but I have seen one case where it would but the loss of compression didn't make as much backpressure to the exhaust so you had no fuel pressure. Anyway thats not your problem at all. The other guys have you covered so I'll shut my mouth before I confuse things more .

MM you are going along the same road as i did, and very soon will either give up the hobby or buy a kit. And as far as your engine and radio and servos go, if you put them in your kit you will be doing yourself a disservice. They might be better than alot of the rtr stuff out there, but they are not up to par if you want to race competitivly. Good luck on your mayhem, i hope you can get it to work, i wouldn't wish on anyone to spend hard earned money on a buggy, just to find out it won't run. I am simply telling my story and experience with the mayhem and it is alot like what you are going through. And an airleak is what i believe i had on my engine and that is why it wouldn't run, i didn't bother sending it back in to horizon to get repaired because i bought a kit, and gave up on the mayhem, but you can send your engine in and they will fix it. If not and you are on a pretty tight budget go ahead and buy like a os rg or something like that and put it on your mayhem till you get a kit. The mayhem will work on a starter box, the hole in the bottom isn't as big as most so you have to line up the box perfectly, but if you replace the engine you might be able to get some use out of it. I do not believe you will be able to get that 26 engine working worth a flip... but i could always be wrong..

I don't think that mm's problem is that he bought a Mayhem.

His biggest problems are lack of experience, which is natural for a beginner, and the fact that he bought an used buggy.

Maybe the engine has just been mistreaded. It's normal when you buy an used buggy that the engine isn't worth anything. And mm you should have known that!

Look for bubbles in the line. I bet they start after the filter.

turns out the filter actually isn't a filter. mine's just a shiny blue cylinder. the filter part is missing.

ohh, and when i was priming the engine, there where some bubbles in the line after is sucked up some fuel.

engrose, the engine is in good shape before i took it apart. it still has very good compression, so i know the engine has quite a bit of life in it.

it seems that the new fuel tubing i got is too wide in interior diameter, and it wouldn't work with that fuel line. so i went back to the included tubing, and it can run, but if i let it idle for more than a few seconds, it stalls.

Just because you have compression doesn't mean the engine will work. I have a Rossi engine that ingested some dirt. When you spin it it feels like it has compression, but it won't run (or even start). So compression is a good sign, but it doesn't mean that things are ok.

i took the entire thing apart, and cleaned it out. so there's no dirt
