Status: offline 		Is that the KPC-650 camera you got ??? I have one of those and its awesome. I have another smaller, cheaper camera that is rated to 420 lines, so I figured the picture quality would be pretty close to the same.... NOT. When hooked directly to my high definition TV, the KPC-650 just blows the other camera away in the way it reproduces colors and contrast It is so so much better, lines of resolution only tell a small part of the story. Needless to say, I have the cheaper CCD cam sitting in a box and bought a second KPC-650 for the project I am currently working on.

Where did you get your camera Skycam41 ??? I have flown my first one lots and I can tell you that you will be very happy with the quality of your video

Status: offline 		Actually no! I sold the KPC-650 and have this
one. Crap, it's down $10 bucks now! Ah well. The specs are the same as the KPC-650 and the image quality is unreal. The same place I bought mine has a 520 line cam for $159!! The EX-200 is smaller than the KPC-650 also and $70 less. I did buy an additional lens also. I have bought several items from www.qvcvideo.com and have had great service & prices. They have way more stuff on their ebay store than at their website.

The only thing I was not too keen on with the 650 was that when in the air and the lighting changed with the scene it was looking at the colours tended to shift tint. The exposure was always good and the cam would change from light to darker very well but for some reason I noticed the colour tint would keep shifting slightly. I have yet to try the EX-200 in the air yet...waiting for the dang wind to quit. I found a really cool very small tripod head with swivel on ebay that works so slick I bought two. That way I can position the cam in pretty much any way I like.

Arrived today, (not bad, 8 day delivery) well packed. Not tested yet, need to make up some power cables. (none supplied)
For info purposes, I have weighed the unit, here are the figures:

Complete unit: 210grams

Status: offline 		Yeah, we are pretty slow to get this system in the air I am building a twin boom pusher plane specifically fo AP and to use this 2w set up but it won't be ready till next year. If anyone gets this set up going in a plane be sure to post the results.

Status: offline 		Made up some cables and tested on the ground tonight.. range looks good, certainly a LOT better than some cheap stuff I messed with several years ago. Only niggle I can see at the moment is a slight flicker in the picture which occurs quite often.

My aerial platform is close to being finished, just need to get fuse covered and build a 5v regulator for the camera.

Status: offline 		All finished, couldnt wait to get it in a plane, or even in fact for daylight.. took it for a walk to the other end of the yard last night, with the receiver inside the house (signal had to penetrate several trees outside, and a wall) the signal was still good approx 400ft and non line-of-sight still had it showing a good signal.

It could have gone further...
If you get it onto a plane i would love to see the footage.

Status: offline 		I'm still working on my Extreme's conversion to standard electronics. Mainly, not happy with the piano wire and going to switch to flexible sleeved control rods going through the boom to control the flaps. Once done I'll hack this unit to the plane. I could probably put it on my BP21 Stryker (that brushless motor pushed my 800mw camera no problem) but this unit is a bit heavier than I feel comfortable with. Besides, I just built a new Stryker body for my BP21 motor and don't want to put a single ding in it trying something stupid. I'm still hoping to hear how you guys hacked together the camera to the box and power feeds. In other words, are you using normal video/audio/power plugs or did you solder directly to something? I guess I can go with normal plugs as the Extreme can haul up a good bit of weight. Another question...is there a ground wire in the video/audio plugs or are they single line? Pictures would be great. AND, are you guys powering your camera off the TX or via some seperate power via the plane's battery?

Status: offline 		At the moment I intend keeping the plugs on the equipment, because weight isn't really a problem at this stage. I will however possibly hard-wire the various items together at a later date to try to lighten it all up a bit, once I know it works ok.

Status: offline 		ive only just noticed, now ive installed that new regulator, i only get 8 volt out of the out socket on the transmitter, when im puting 10v in.

if i put the volt meter on the regulator on the mid pin and the outer right pin i only get 2v? isent this ment to be 5v? i did that on dc setting. if i put it on ac i get 3.6v i dont think this reg is working right.. i checked on the receiver and i get 4.8v on dc setting.

could 1 of you tell me your readings on ac and dc, i think this 1 is ac and i think it is ment to be dc, because the receiver is dc..

Status: offline 		You will get pretty meaningless readings from a meter on a switch-mode regulator. The output is switching on and off at quite a rate so DC measurements won't help and AC measurements will only confuse you further. At some point there will be an inductor and capacitor, the capacitor will store the regulated DC voltage..... Is the unit actually working?

Status: offline 		Just thought I'd chime in and say I still haven't hacked mine to a plane yet. However, I FINALLY finished converting the Extreme over to standard electronics. The pushrod system was what really killed some time to figure out. I'm planning on flying this TX on the Extreme. While my brushless Stryker could probably haul it up (it hauled up my 800mw system with no problem...though it didn't have great range due to other mounting issues), I figure why strap a pack to a pony when you've got a horse. Might also consider strapping it on my Challenger which I'm also converting over to standard electronics and pushrods. While I kept the 540 brushed motor and SUB C "standard" sized packs on the Extreme, on the Challenger I replaced the 400 brushed motor with a BP21 brushless and lipos. Not only will this setup be lighter than a stock Challenger with a stock 400 and nimh pack, this plane should do unlimited verticle as it's much lighter than the Stryker with the same BP21 motor. Although, the Stryker is no push over with speeds near 85mph with this motor. I also plan to strap an Aiptek 5100M digital camcorder to the Extreme soon enough. By the way, I've added a LONG carbon rod to both the Challenger and Extreme wings to prevent folding. Do this before it's too late if you fly one!

Status: offline 		I highly doubt that these transmitters are really 2 watt's. If they are you will want to have Plane receiver shielded from it, and possibly a remote shut off for the video transmitter. As you get your plane farther from you, the power of the video transmitter will interfere with your plane receiver and cause you to loose control.

Status: offline 		From what I gather from Randall (who has flown the same or nearly identicle tx/rx) and others, this unit is a true 2 watt unit. If anything, the range is as good as it gets so who cares if it's really a bit lower than 2 watts? As for interference issues, I would figure there shouldn't be any. There are all kinds of "junk" frequency signals bouncing around in the air at all times anyway, and if you are using a good quality full range plane RX with good interference blocking (like a JR Sport with it's patented signal blocking system) I wouldn't figure it'd be an issue. Perhaps, one never knows but there is only one way to find out.

Status: offline 		Hey it is worth a try, but it's like a cell phone. If you use it near speakers or a computer monitor it will interfere, regardless of frequency. If you put a 2 watt transmitter next to a receiver that receives a !QUOT!MAX!QUOT! of .75 watt RC transmitter, it will still get saturated with RF. It is always better to ask the questions before than after. The only reason I bring this up is I tried to use a 1 Watt 70 CM ham transmitter and it gave me problems.
