OK.

I like to mix some milled glass fibers with my epoxy when using it in areas that require more strength. I have absolutely no proof that it turns out any stronger than just regular epoxy, but it sounds like a good idea!

I do that too. I'm sure that it makes a less brittle bond.

I'm dry fitting everything to see how things fit. I just put a set of commercial gear on to check the stance, but I may go with it rather than making the more traditional wider Pitts gear. I haven't decided yet. Here are a couple of pics with its big brother.

Well Bipe, how's that little bipe coming? We haven't heard anything in a whole 24 hours!
Are you going to match the BullDog for colors or maybe something completely off the wall?
Your wings are not tapered, right? Can we (sometime, not right now) get a cross section drawing of the wing so we can 'build-up' the wings? I don't have a foam cutter.

I didn't get anything done yesterday other than check where the components will fit and take an inventory of servos.

See the first post in this thread for the colour scheme.

The wings are constand chord with an NACA 0015 airfoil. I've attached a cross section.

Hey Bipe I love your cowl. Do you plan to epoxy the inside and then just 'kote the outside? How does a guy keep a balsa cowl from going to heck so quickly?

DF,

Yes I cover the cowl with Ultracote and then epoxy the inside for fuel proofing. Here are a couple of pics of the cowl for my .40 size Pitts before fuel proofing and covering. I fuel proofed it with polyester resin and it is still fine after almost 5 years. I will be using 24 hour cold cure on this one.

I've been doing little things for the past few days. Plumbing the fuel tank, sanding the interplane struts, setting up the tailwheel etc.

I really like the Sullivan tailwheel bracket, but it's too large for this plane, so this is what I came up with.

I made the brass piece on the tailwheel bracket too tall, so I trimmed it down a bit. Boy a lathe sure comes in handy. Even when it's a cheap one operated by someone who barely knows what he's doing.

I'm glad that you're findng it worth reading, Jack.

Well, I'm just calling it a night. Just a bunch of little things today. Sanding, polishing aluminum parts etc. I've given up on finding a paint that matches the Ultracote Light Grey, so I'm not going to make wheel pants and the aluminum parts will be polished instead of painted.
