Good luck to everyone competing! It sounds like you are all having a great time, which is the most important part. I find it ironic that Jason is giving ANYONE a hard time about getting up on time!! We will be heading down early Sunday morning and I can't wait to see all of you guys! (yes Jason even you!)

Hello. Its been a great contest. I saw this spider it was a Tarantula when driving back from the field Tuesday. I understand there was one sighted at the field along with a rattler by a trash can. Truly outdoors if I might add. The most beautiful sight is when driving over the Tucson foothills coming back from the day of competition. You crest the hill and can see downtown Tucson, and the mountains in the background. Then there is the sunset. Really spectacular.

Its been between 96 and 98 degrees every day. It feels like the dead of summer for most of us out-of-towners. The humidly is relatively low so its somewhat bearable. Wind has been light, but at times during the day, this morning for example, it kicks up to 10-15 at times.

Its been extremely different. Judging, from my perspective. I judged on Wednesday unlimited, and its tough. The bright blue sky with little reference points (such as clouds) is very different than on the east coast. The level of flying is quite high. Everyone is flying very very well. I was astonished when judging Unlimited at the skill level of all pilots. Invitational is no exception. Its really the best flying I've seen.

If anyone knows the freestyle schedule let me know. If I remember correctly from the Pilots meeting, they would fly the unknown, then the freestyle, then the known. But I'm going on memory.

Thanks again to Jason Shulman for allowing me to fly his Super Extra from Composite ARF yesterday and Wednesday. Without this plane I'd be a spectator at the event rather than competing. Flying is the best I've seen. Mark is so relaxed he revs his engine before and after each manevuer. Almost saying its so easy he's bored. He is flying very well. Frasier is flying better than I've ever seen him. Quique is flying well as always. Jason, Mike, Bernd, Peter, Kirt, basically from about 2nd through 9th is very close.

Another special thanks to my wife. She boxed up my backup Radiowave Extra 300 and (with the help of several club members from NVRC) sent it out. I just got it this morning and quickly assembled it. Good to have the old "six shooter" back in the holster to compete with. This event is really living up to its reputation (shoot out). Its very exciting.

Hello,

Great to hear that you could get your plane shipped out. I have also heard from several friends out there that state the same thing. The amount of talent in all the classes is awesome. Were glad to be a part of the event sponsoring the 42% Extra 300 raffle plane to help the event. Be safe and Have Fun!

Thank you for supporting the event John. Your Extra looks spectacular, professionally finished by Tony Russo in his hallmark mirror finish. Many people were buying tickets for the raffle.

John, the 35% on your website looks absolutely awesome. Wish it was an ARF because I'd buy it right now.

Don, wish I was there. I've talked with Wayne and he mentioned the difficulty in flying with lack of traditional reference points in the sky, or trees, or anything at all. Also heard the story about Dave, Hueff, and the rattlesnake. Too funny. Ask them.

Sorry for the short note, my computer shuts-off on me at a moments not notice. Invitational is the same, but Mark is leading and QQ is 2nd. Andrew's canopy blew off during his freestyle (fixed now) and Marco landed early from and over-heated (or over dirtied) motor. Winds were HOWLING today and dust was flying again. Marks also winning Freestyle.

I noticed that Ivan K. did not post a score for the last round. Anyone on here know the reason? I hope he did not have a serious problem.
