I had similiar problem like all you guys had. My used to be stock motor W#36 hovers great when I first got it, then comes the tail wagging, drifting, glitching, cutting off.... After many minor crashes and one major crash, I had to totally rebuilt her twice (almost tear everything apart) and slowly replacing the electronics starting with the servos, gyro and finally the Tx and Rx. Now my re-born W#36 flys really good and she is stable and the best is reliable, I don't have to deal with the glitches and today I fly her at 7+ mph wind and she handles very well, rock solid hover and very responsive, I can point her to wherever I want.
    Here's the electronics I use:
    3 HS-55 servo
1 GWS pico BB for tail
    gy240 gryo
    Himax 4025-4200 w/8T
    CC 25 esc, 3A BEC
    3S TP 2100 or Maxamp 2100 lipo
Hitec Eclipse 7 Tx and Electron Rx

Can anybody confrim that this replacement part for a Trex will work on the dragonfly #36, like will it fit the on the tail boom and have no mounting problems along with the stock horizontal stabilizer fin? Below is the link:

I know the tail gear from Trex works for the W#36, it should work for the same diameter boom.

I would like to point out that it is unlikely a tail gear from a trex would work on anything. as far as I know, the trex has always been belt driven. If your talking about the tail housing, it would fit if the tail boom on a 36 is the same diameter. I don't have a 36 so I don't know for sure. I do have a 35 and if the 36 tail boom is the diameter as the 35, nothing from a trex tail boom rearword will fit except for the tail blades and maybe the tail blade grips. oh and possibly the horizontal and veritcal tail fins...

The 36 is belt driven like the Trex, as well the diameter of the tail boom is almost the same as the Trex. All the tail components incuding tail upgrades for the Trex will work with the #36 as the tail is almost an exact replica of the Trex tail. As far as the actual gear that tranfers power to the belt, I do not know. I currently have a 36, 35 z400, and a 3dx-400. The 36 only shares the head, swash, and elevator assembly with the shogun/35/3dx-400.

    CitybydBay,

The tail components (for BELT DRIVE) from a T-rex DO fit the Walkera 36. I know because i've interchanged all parts between the two. (see my gallery)

The Walkera aluminium boom is perhaps 1 or 2 mm smaller in circumference than the T-rex boom, although I believe thats why the 36's tail boom can move around in the frame and turn. When I put in my carbon T-rex boom, I had to finely grind out a bit more plastic from the holes in the main frame but I get excellent grip, and no turning.

One thing to look out for is that there are 2 lengths of tail boom for the T-rex. Standard and Long. The standard is too short for the 36 belt, the long is TOO long, so you need to cut off a centimeter or so to keep the belt tight.

As for the fittings you are looking at, such as stabilizer and its boom holder, tail fin etc the parts are completely interchangeable.

    Hi bfrunner,

Can you tell me where you got your ball linkages from and what servos you are running now? I'd like to get rid of alll the Z links on my ship too.

    Thanks
    Colin.

Thanks to you and buzzpop for setting me straight. quick question, have you setup and flown your 3dx-400? I found it to be very nice compared to the 35 as far as the head components etc. after getting it all ready to fly I found on the first attempt that there was a very high frequency vibration along the tail boom. if you have flown your 3dx-400 have you experienced this vibration at all?

cptsnoopy: I haven't flown mine yet.

41south: I got the ballinks from bizz ciera in ebay :

    Link to the 36 parts

He has all the updated parts for the 36 rotor head to convert all your Zbends to the new ball link parts.. The linkages for the elevator, and the ailoron servo are extras I had, I just installed ball links on them, and modded the elevator to use a ball link.

Take the bbq out and put a couch in there and thats almost exactly what happened to mine, except I think I bent the main shaft too, but didn't realize it until I got the new blade connecting rod, so if I were u I would make sure that isn't bent too...
