Thanks E Heli for quick reply. I'll try these settings and hope I can get familiar with my transmitter. Thanks again.

Hey Folks. New to helis. Planes years ago. Got a 36 and after maybe 5 minutes of trying to things zeroed, the tail started going clockwize.

I read this thread, looked closer and noticed that the slider assembly on the tail shaft was melted. Ever see this.? Bad quality.

Next question: I want to replace the tail assembly with something better. What do you recommend and where do I get it? I'm in the states.

    Thanks in advance.

    Caz

I do believe that if the tail is spinning clockwise instead of counter, it is because of the belt, ur belt must bet twisted the wrong way in the tail.
I think i fyou replace the whole tail ( minus boom ) you can get trex stuff (just for the tail tho)

Thanks for the reply. It was counter clockwise, not clockwise, sorry. The slider was not really attaches cuz is was melted so I think the lack of control was the issue. Even when I tried to trim there was no effect. What company supplies the best parts?

    Thanks

I had the same right stick problem. Being a r/c technician since 70's I opened up the XMTR, a couple of screws later put the stick mechanism into the correct hole, bam works fine! My shipment from China was missing advertized Pitch guage + Crash kit. Seller states he will ship missing items. Heli came with 1500mah LiPo, I'm looking for a source to buy either 1800mah or 2200mah LiPo if anyone can direct me. Thanks

I appreciate everyone's input. As a newbie, I have learned a lot about heli's and the Dragonfly 36. My 36 seems to be in fairly good shape and have not had any major problems (YET) although it looks like I will need to upgrade my battery from the 650mah to a LiPO along with a motor upgrade and I assume this could be my problem. The problem that I'm having is that as my heli gets light of the skids the motor suddenly seems to go into overdrive or like it may be slipping gears or something yet I'm not noticing anything unusual or stripped gears when I manually turn the main blades. I had a low impact crash where I did not get the throttle turned down in time and not sure if this may have damaged the motor. Any suggestions??????????

One more note on the above post. I loose rotor speed once the motor problem kicks in @ 60% throttle. Everything seems to run smoothly up to that point. Thanks.......

Hi Guys, and hello from another newb struck by the heli bug, (my #36 is still in the box waiting for my sim to arrive)
I just found this "WALKERA PITCH GAUGE" on Ebay and wondered if this is something that would help or is it just a waste of $35au

Hi There, you seem to know a little about the Walkera 36 RC helicopter. I'm new and just opened it on Christmas day. Charged the battery and installed new AA in the TX. I can't seem to get the helicopter to respond to the the TX controls. Do you know where I can find instructions on how to confirm my setup? The instructions that came with it were pretty poorly written and doesn't contain a whole lot of information.

    Thanks, Rick

I have not looked into the lift(lessness) problem or "gear" noise in a serious fashion yet. I'm still waiting for a flybar to arrive. I did tighten the gear mesh a tad & I'll see if that remedies the "gear stripping" noise.

Well, I just had my first go with my #36, straight out of the box, put in the batt, stuck on the pingpong balls ) and to my surprise it was as smooth as anything, no wagging or vibration, I only got it about 6 inch's off the ground for a few seconds at a time but I'm really pleased with it.

It doesn't start to lift off until about 60 to 70% throttle, is this normal, if not what should I change? I haven't touched the plt/pzt dials as I don't know what they are yet.

If it makes any diff. it's all stock standard (brushed motor)

    Thanks

    Hiya Guys,
I've had this happen to me twice!!!!

    Simple but temporary fix!
Disasemble the blade grip and use superglue gel to fix the ball back on. You need to leave it overnight to cure. This has helped me out twice now, I have ordered new grips but this helps keep me flying!!!!

    Hope this helps!

Going to go reset my TX up with the advise givern on here!

I also have this annoying tail servo problem!!!! Will try the fixes mentioned.....

If anyone lives near leeds and wants to chat let me know!!!!

    Kev,

Then you're one of the lucky ones. Got mine Christmas day & still haven't been able to get off of the ground. Still waiting on flybar...grrr.
If I were you. I'd check ALL fasteners (screws) and make darn sure that nothing's loose! Just about EVERYTHING on mine was installed loosely, crooked, and/or unadjusted! I almost lost a tail rotor because the allen screw inside the pitch buckle was turned in only by 2 threads! (Remove the tail blades, one screw each. Look down inside the buckle (the black plastic do-thingy that was holding the tail blade and lets it "pitch") and use your small allen wrench to make sure those things are snug.) Anything that is imbalanced in your main or tail rotor systems can be parasitic on applied power. Sure, it can fly, but a vibrating tail rotor (or main) can bleed the power away from what it's supposed to do. I'd look into it as a posibility, anyway.

Not sure if your throttle question is the norm or not... you're further than I... however, if you want to know if your heli is optimized, I can help you by giving you this link:
Awesome set-up advise... read all of the guy's instructions - better than any manual!

eBay, internet search, etc... that's what I'm doing. Got my heli on Dec. 25 and never had helis before, so I'm wet behind the ears, bro. On top of that, still haven't been able to get it off the ground yet!!! I wish that D**** flybar would hurry itself up and get here. I think there were some strings saying what substitute parts may work, but I'm not sure as to which ones.

The way the PLT/PZT knobs work goes as follows:

Unplug the motor and turn everything on where you can check servos, pitch, etc...... On the back of the TX there is a small red panel with ten small switches on it. Flip the #8 switch to the "unlock" position. If you turn the TX back around, and flip the flight mode switch (upper right most switch) down to 1 the main blades should be at 0 degrees pitch at 50% throttle. The PLT (left) knob adjusts the NEGATIVE pitch. At 50% throttle, by turning the PLT knob clockwise you should see the blades pitch to the negative. The PZT knob adjusts POSITIVE pitch. At 50% throttle the PZT knob turned clockwise will see the blades move to the positive. While the vast majority of us don't cannot fly 3D yet, the PLT is of no use. The PZT is the one that needs adjusting. The trick is to get the right amount of lift while keeping head speed at a maximum. When you are finished with adjustments, turn flight mode switch back to N and lock the #8 switch on the back of the TX and enjoy. Hope this helps.

Those with #36's that actually get off of the ground,
Got the new flybar. In the meantime, I loosened all screws and retightened after making any necessary adjustmenst. Had to recenter all servos. (Whoever put my heli together was drunk and in a hurry!) Anyway, got a pitch gauge and got rotors centered @ 0°. Charged my Li-Po and tried it out in the kitchen. Got it to full throttle and it just gets light on skids. Shut 'er down and give the mains a pitch of +5°. Try again... and now it just starts to get up (a few inches) at full throttle. I know this isn't right. I'm guessing ('cause I'm new) that perhaps there's not enough power. (?) I'm burning-in the motor without a load tonight (stock motor, not brushless) to see if I get any more power or rotor speed from it.

Does anyone have any solid advise for getting this thing in the air? (besides using a swift foot.)
I shouldn't have to be starting this thing up with an already positive pitch, should I? ...or is this actually "normal"?
    Thanks a million!
    Uke

    P. S., HELP!

with the stock motor it's pretty rare that ppl get off the ground. I did with mine but only long enough to crash lol.
If I were u I would get a good battery and a new motor...
I don't even want to talk about all the stuff I got for my 36 so far but here goes (dx6 199, align 420lf+speed controller 85, gy401 140, new abs blades 6 bucks (great for beginners), new lipo 50, new charger 50, plus probably 500 in replacement parts for the next time I crash lol, oh yeah and a metal swash for 35....metal rotor head that I can't use unless I get some other ups, so I ordered the cheapo package from hong kong which isn't here yet but it was 50 bucks .....
Anyways, I'm still not done yet the blade grip linkage snapped, with all the money I spend I could have bought an insane heli. Lol but you live and learn, once I get this one tuned out and get alright at hovering I'm getting a trex cause the parts are all over the place and there are ups galore for the trex too...

    Thanks for your insight.
If the burn-in on the motor doesn't do the trick on giving me enough power, I'll have to try the brushless with an "actiyator" (heh, heh).
    I already have a Li-Po @ 2200mAh.

I may want the metal stuff in the future, too, but right now I'm having to concentrate on lack-of-altitude.

Oh, and think of it this way, if you started with the t-rex and had the same experiences... now how much would you have spent?
