to get the bearing out, I removed the gear and used a large allen wrench+hammer, oh, and yes, those bearings aren't fun to put back together.

Hi all,

Just took delivery of my GY401 gyro for my #36. Does anyone have a dummies setup guide that is suitable for the standard Walkera Tx? Most of the on-line docs and the included manual talk about setting it up with the more expensive Tx's. or can I just plug it in and go?

Many thanks.
Colin.

The GY401 is a great HH gyro, you have to plug into an AUX channel to remote adjust the gain, unfortunatlely the W#36 Tx does not provide trim/adjustment on ch5(gear), only a switch.
RC heli seldom can do plug and play, plug and pray instead.

41south -> RE: ** WALKERA DRAGONFLY 36 * (1/26/2006 8:21:02 PM)

E_Heli,

Thanks for the reply. I think I have it sorted. I used channel 5 (gear channel) to remotely control the AVCS on/off. That works great. I found that when I first fired it all up with the GY401 in place that I had lots of servo throw one way but not the other. I had read something about Revo mix elsewhere, and knew that my very basic Walkera Tx was not going to have anything to program that ! After a bit of trial and error I found that if I flicked SW4 on the back of the TX to the right (looking at the back of the TX) then it came right. I now have equal throw each way. I have to back off the limit a bit I think but apart from that it looks sweet.
I haven't flown with the GY401 yet, just waiting for the wind to calm down a bit here. I'll do a bit of a search for some detail (in English [:D]) on what that SW4 does.

Cheers
Colin.

E_Heli -> RE: ** WALKERA DRAGONFLY 36 * (1/26/2006 8:48:46 PM)

I don't have the gy401, but I help a friend set it up with Eclipse 7 tx. You have to set the Rev mix to "0" or to OFF in the HH mode (AVCS in Futaba term), then check the end points of the tail servo, move to the next inner hole in the servo arm if the linkage start bending, over travel will draw a lot of current and may strip the servo gear.

I ditched my W#36 tx, rx, gyro and servos already. I don't have to deal with radio glitching issue any more, now I can't blame on Walkera electronics for any mishap.

E_Heli -> RE: ** WALKERA DRAGONFLY 36 * (2/8/2006 6:40:04 PM)

Vibration problem:

I helped a fried to repair his crashed W#36, after replacing the main shaft, the spindle and new blades. The blades are balance and tracked good. The heli spool up OK and pretty smooth, once it get light and about to lift off, that comes a violent vibration from the head, can't think of what cost it, may be the ball end linkages in the swash or the see saw?

E_Heli -> RE: ** WALKERA DRAGONFLY 36 * (2/9/2006 9:11:36 PM)

Found the problem, the main shaft was crooked slightly where the slider hole is and cause the rotor head not turning true, there's no noticeable wobble but may be some resonance at the lift off rotor speed (2300 rpm in this case).

Another problem shows up, the heli used to hover very stable and pretty much can "hold it there" hands off for couple seconds, now she's going up and down and very sensitive in the pitch/throttle control, we're flying in the idle up mode, the motor speed is at 100% throttle.
The only changes is the carbon blades since the PE blades were destroyed, they are the same size, hovering pitch is at about +6.0 - 7.0 degree.

Hi dear,
I had the same problem also.
Just open your transmeter and you will find a visible spring which is in charge of your LEFT/RIGHT stick.
Either its fallen out or got stock to some thing. just put it back to it place and you are ready to go.

NOZZARCHELI -> RE: ** WALKERA DRAGONFLY 36 * (6/5/2006 12:17:09 PM)

Hello chaps sorry iv been away so long, I hate busy lives lol

Well anyways i come back to you with good weather for flying and another problem.

I cant remember if iv posted this b4, but

I still have the problem of the heli spinning out of control when i lift off.

I think its the tightness of the tail blade belt, i think the tail boom pole has slipped towards the body slightly which has made the belt slack so as soon as i power up the tail belt slipps and can no longer compensate for the main rotor spin.

I think i have to pull the tail boom pole back towards the tail to tighten it again......i think!!

If any of u guys or gals have had the same prob and resolved it, PLEASE!!! post....hehe

Im desperate to get flying again. =((

Im glad to be back all and am also glad that this post is going so well.

nice to see ya all again,

Regards

Hi, Noz

I think its this part thats broken. Here is the link to that part.
http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-38176160243944_1899_16399481

I was experiencing same problem when I noticed this part broke. Gear Set HM-036-Z-26. After repairing and installing the part, you might get some tail wag, which I'm still figuring out how to fix. Well hope this helps good luck!

Hi there,

Is the 36 a eCCPM or just a mCCPM.

Cheers

Reytek -> RE: ** WALKERA DRAGONFLY 36 * (6/7/2006 12:36:37 AM)

Hi Jerm979,

I know its not CCPM. CCPM is rc helis looks like this. Heres a link of a ccpm helis.
http://image.rcuniverse.com/forum/upfiles/217534/My24918.jpg
The swashplate looks different from the DF36. The response is quicker, and all three servos moves together in different pitch angles,roll, etc..

Hi guys, I just bought this helicopter online.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Walkera-36-3D-RC-helicopter-COMPLETE-ALUMINUM-head-lipo_W0QQitemZ140032902721QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting

The only experience in helicopter flying is from playing excesssively aerofly [:o]. My brother is completely into rc airplanes and I thought it would be a good opportunity to share a common hobby. I know that the helicopter needs to be fixed and setup by someone experienced. Right now I am looking up what PLT stands for so I can get the most info out of your guys conversations.
I would really appreciate if I can get some feedback from someone to help me out.

Heli_Flight -> RE: ** WALKERA DRAGONFLY 36 * (10/23/2006 10:17:16 PM)

I have the 180L Brushless, 30A ESC from Walkera on my 36 Heli.

Before I upgraded to the metal rotor, everything was fine. When I was trimming the rotorblade pitch I then disconnected the motor form the ESC and had the stick and trim at half throttle. After the adjustments awhile later, I turn off the electronics and I pluged the motor back in, turned the TX on with throttle and trim down, then I plug in the battery. Now I hear all the sounds and actions of the heli like I usually do. Everything recaliberates and the motor even makes it's usual beep and small movement.

As I go to power up the heli, bringing the trim up first to make that really soft start nothing happens where it would usually begin to turn. Then I increase the throttle stick and still nothing. Ok, no problem I think. I switch the wires on the motor to the esc. Nothing still. I try every wire variable, still no motor motion. What could it be?

Heli_Flight

mgow -> RE: ** WALKERA DRAGONFLY 36 * (4/28/2007 3:23:47 AM)

Hi there I have just purchased a 36 which should arrive in a couple of days along with the metal rotor head and tail combo. I has the brushless motor and is apart from the metal upgrade is second hand but good condition for $240 NZD. Can you tell me if the settings you had in your post I should use THE p-z+ ?? I have been only flying helis for 3 months mastered the dragon fly 4# channel heli so now think this will be the next step.
Can you tell me what the gyro actually does. And if when I get my 36 what setting I should set it to if needed and any other thing I should do to be able to at first hover. My dream is to fly upside down the main reason I bought this bird. I hear there is a switch and it will invert (i assume flip over in mid air by itself) then you just have to control down as up and so forth. I would appreciate any help with this heli as went through a lot of rotor heads on the df4 because a freak wind would blow it into the fence.

mgow,

Welcome to the 36! If you have never had a CP before get ready for one heck of a ride. Also be prepared that if you crash it you are going to bend and break parts on this one, but trust me it's worth the effort!

The gyro adjusts the pitch of the tail blades to keep the heading of the helicopter straight. Without a gyro you would have to do this by hand, which is near impossible. You need your helicopter to hold dead straight unless your are instructing it to turn and the Walkera 36 stock gyro will do this nicely but you need to, you got it, set it up. You do that by sliding the servo mount servo and all forward or back, but this is an almost last step. You will get there, first lets do some obvious things.

Hi there
I own a walkera 36 since a year, learned to fly it and accumulated at least 200 flights. For my limited budget it was a cheap Walkera or none. After all I do appreciate this helicopter and friends of my have been convinced, to go for one as well.
I do love this machine, obviously there is allways a better product in life, however I would buy the 36 again, as it works great and fly's incredibly well. I keep taking it with me wherever I work and have flown it in Germany, Indonesia and currently in Switzerland!

Greetings
Hans

Bobsizz_99 -> RE: ** WALKERA DRAGONFLY 36 * (9/1/2007 3:58:40 PM)

Hi I had to chuckle cause I bought the same two helicopters. I just bought the Walkera 36 yesterday and waiting on shipment. I also orderd the aluminum blue head rotor assy. It looks really cool and I thought it might be alot smoother. I just got my ESKY HONEY BEE which I think is the other one you got too. But I didnt get a chance to fly it yet cause when i was doing the initial set up. Blad tracking etc the main motor shorted out which shorted out the 4 in 1 mixer. The mixer went up in smoke and I told the company to just send me a new mixer and main motor but they wanted me to ship the whole helicopter back and they will ship me a new one. So that will take a few months and I got the bug to fly so I thought I will just buy another one. And after messing with the Honey Bee I saw what could be inproved so I bought the Walker 36. I like the alunimum frame and looks like better motors and stuff. Well I hope I didnt bore you I just saw your pictures and had to write you. Have a great day and happy flying
