HI GUYS, I have just purchased a wakera dragonfly 36 with brushless/lipo setup and the transmitter i got with it was duff.....when i push the right stick to the right it clicks and the sick doesn't go back to the center....I was a little annoyed....i have emailed my supplier form ebay and am awaiting a response.....hopefull he will exchange the tx for a working one.....as i am really looking forward to flying this little thing.......HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS OR ANY SIMILAR PROBLEM??.......


PLEASE POST ANYTHING IN THIA THREAD CONCERNING THE DRAGONFLY 36

from what i have read on many forums the walkera's electronics are junky and you should only buy the heli without them and install your own..

Theres a whole thread about them already, you just have a mode 2 stick by the sounds of it which can be rewired to work as mode1(Ithink Ive got that right[sm=bananahead.gif]).

I have a 36 and I am very happy for the price, Ive had no electrical issues so far and best of all it actually flies. Some people on these forums have a bit of an elitist attitude about there expensive helis when for me I couldnt have afforded to get into the hobby without these cheap knock offs.

I must say though, they are far from ready to fly and if you dont enjoy fiddling with them I wouldnt bother, as they do really need a thourough going over, but Im still quite a lot of money in front of what an original would have set me back and Ive been having a lot of fun for a couple of months with only a couple of sets of new blades and a decent charger as extra cost, from what I read you would need that no matter what type you go with.

Only my opinion though.

Yo guys....and to everyone who's voted so far......I Fixed the problem with my tx........i opened the back and the right stick had come unclipped from the part which makes it spring bak to the center....All i had to do was clip both sides into their holes and reattach the spring.....Problem Solved..............Im gonna chatter on now......Iv been interested in heli's for about two years....My first heli was a Kalt spae baron nitro heli....but by the time i had assembled it and all the equipment for it i had lost intrest.......i reently bought a dragonfly 4FP which i re-learned the basics on and i have just purchased a DF36..LINK BELOW

This is the 36 i got from ebay...including brushless seup,carbon blades,2200mah lipo,etc etc.......i think it was a good deal considering i didn't have to import it from china.......£215 THE LOT........Not bad concdering that it comes ready to fly/ish......after some tweaking....I must say i agree with TIGER27 that these are good for the money....especially if you can't afford to pay £350+ for a T-Rex/Zoom....even though they are better.......i think i will upgrade my heli's slowly as i am a student with only a part time job...and hope that the walkera electronics hold up until then......Thanks again guys

HI Guys/Gals............iv got a walkera dragonfly 36 (more info on my setup above) Could you give me any info on what i should do to properly set up this heli and any other tips which may be useful..........i know most of you don't want to say these things again.........so far i have leveled the pitch plate, sorted the arial and cheked all the servo's and the gyro are working and move in the correct direction/s..........INFO on blade leveling.....and also ???????***MY TAIL SERVO MOVES RIGHT FINE BUT,WHEN I MOVE IT IN THE OTHER DIRECTION IT GOES ALL THE WAY TO IT'S LIMIT AND STARTS GITTERING......ANY HELP PLEASE.....I DON'T THINK THIS IS NORMAL?????*****

ok ablsoute necessitys:abs blades (invencible), brushless motor. you already have one of those so you're doing fine, ok how does it fly for you? I thought it flew quite nicely, after completly dissasemling this heli my idea of it is that it's built well, my electronics are in great condition and work great. when flying it make sure you remove the screws on the servos, this will alow the horns to pop off if you crash saving your servos. as for your tail servo make sure that the gyro movment rate isn't too high, this only controls how much you can move this servo si if you turn it way down you can't spin fast. ok besides that make sure you're blades are aligned and the paddles are at the same legnth, never more than 2 degrees. The main blades should never get more than 14 degrees. and for best reception wrap the antenna around the rear servo mount and the horizontal fin taping the last cm pointing straight up. that should be it please post if you have any more problems.

Hi thecheatscalc, Thanks for the tips......Does removing the screws from the servo's mean the heli might become uncontrollable as the linkages might come off......*****??How do you ajust the rudder/rear servo to work correctly....the rudder works fine when i push he stick on the tx to the right but when i push it to the left the servo pushes the tail to it's limit and still has room to move....hepe you understand where im coming from....advice from anyone welcome....thanks....Matt

try removing the gyro to get rid of the problem. also YES if you remove the screws and the linkages pop off you will lose control and may crash. don't worry about that though, your servo links should be pretty sung and will stay on until you crash, though once they losen up a bit you'll want to put the screws back in.

well a bit more cordinated, but just try to see if that's your problem, then if it is contact your seller if it is. I've flown with out the gyro (ok maybe not it was on the esc plug for throttle control....oops) it flys just fine but it's MUCH more sensitive so you need to get used to it by bumbling around on the ground for a pack or two until you feel comfortably then just take off.

yeah but lets say u increase your pitch to go up..

the torque will increase and the tail speed will reduce just like the head spead..

this will make the heli turn..

and it will always do this each time u go up and down

not if you have a powerful enough motor, on mine I didn't have any problem with that, and it bobbed quite a bit as I had the gyro on the ESC! so every time I turned I'd bob.

I sorted out the rudder servo problem guys...........what i had to do was trim the heli the the left slightly so the servo didn't go past it's limit and then reset the receiver by unplugging the battery, once i did this i could trim the heli properly again....no problems so far................................people have said you have to do loads of trimming to setup the heli for a first flight......all i did was level the pitch plate by eye and trim the tail slightly,ajust the PLT - 9+deg and PZT-11+deg then on my first flight it flew perfectly.........no jumpy throttle....no chattering servo's.....it flew perfectly,the heli also has a very stable hover and no unstable ground effect.......also.......my stock blue li-po is great.....charges fine and gives me a stable continuous hover at about 6ft for about 10-15mins continuously......i must just be lucky...... because reading other threads this heli sounds rubbish......iv had a very good experience with this heli so far and hope others get as much fun out of it as i have..........if i get that rudder servo problem again i will try that GYRO technique, thanks thecheatscalc......the poll looks to be in favour of the walker dragonfly 36 so far...thaks MATT.

HI, i apoligise yet again for posting 3 TIMES in a row now.....I have just had my first PRANG/CRASH.....gutting.....i have checker the heli over and all that's wrong is the ball link's that stop the blade grips from falling loose have snapped off the blade grips are now floppy......does anybody know where i can purchase new blade grips or upgrade the whole main rotor assembly to metal/aluminium......thanks Matt

I have a small video of the flight which the crash happend.....even though the crash isn't shown on it (battery ran out)....it was really windy and gusty so that's why he tail seems to move about alot.....gyro correcting it i suppose...thanks again MATT

Hi

You can get full alluminium headsets (flybar mixer, blade clips swashblade etc) from "www.heli-addict.com" as seperate items. Blade clips cost around £10 + pp. Quite expensive and a bit heavier than the standard plastic version but looks really cool -metallic red. I bought one myself although havent fitted it yet.... just waiting to break the stock headset I suppose [:D].

Problem when upgrading the headset to a more durable one is that any force endured during a crash, if your blades strike the ground, has to go somewhere.... such as your spindle shaft or main shaft . Almost seems like you have to chose which part of your heli you want to break in a minor crash [:(]

If you're just after spares in the uk, I found www.heli-shop.co.uk is really good. This guy does most #36 spares and will post by recorded next day delivery.

Thanks Crashedagain80, like the name by the way....so true.........thanks for the tip on the spares shop in the uk....will be using that next time......im gonna hopefully upgrade my heli bit by bit......so those upgrades u said about will be my next purchase.....hopefully the new parts won't make another part break further down the mechanics......but then again, hopefull i won't crash......


IV GOT A FEW GOOD TIPS....don't fly in moderate winds....not worth the risk of a crash....i learned the hard way the other day when a small gust just made my heli go into a wild tail round spin.......Another good tip is....Keep the arial tied around the skids like it is when you unpack it and have about 3/4 of a foot of it dangling below the heli.......Also cut about 3mm of the plastic from the end of the arial so the wire is open and twist is slightly so it doesn't stick all over the place........i tested the range and it worked further than anyone would ever be able to fly.......put your PLT switch at 9degr right and the PZT at about 11degr right,get carbon blades,a Lipo and a brshless motor/esc and your all good to go...........

Thanks again for the tips and the web site Crashedagain80......i just wonna say again....i love this heli....it's done great so far.....flew after a very small amount of tweeking and fly's great.....even the blue stock lipo has been going great( hold's charge for at least 15mins constant flying ) There's no underpower and the heli has good power until right at the end of the battery life.....i uderstand if people have had problems but i like it anyway.

Hi there I'm new to the Heli world and need to know on the transmitter you say to adjust the PLT 9degrees and PZT 11 degrees..I'm not to good at degrees so how many click turns to left or right is that from the notch being at the top..My only Problem is when I try to take off it leans to the left, my blades plane is straight..It just doesnt take off straight?? well a degree is VERY little. get out your protractor and use it as a reference tool, mine the knows are pointed nearly straight up, the correct neutral position.

Hi,ronikki16

1. The picture below shows the PLT and PZT setting that i use for my heli......i don't know if the settings vary for each heli but these setting give me the right pitch and throttle so i can takeoff smoothly and with exess power if i want it. (Make sure the no:8 switch is on "unlock" befor you do this and then switch it back after ajustments are made.

2. The trimming of the heli is done by doing small bunny hops and watching closely too see which way the heli moves, you then ajust the trim's on the controller by pushing them the way the heli moves, do this until the heli takes off as straight up as possible, The heli will always move in a direction after takeoff even if it's trimmed well.....so just get it as straight as you can, before you do this make sure your pitch plate is as level as possible.......do this by switching the heli on (throttle down and 3d switch on(N).) and using the trim tabs to change the direction of the picth plate until it's level.........I only had to do minimal flight trimming after this.........if the heli still moves left after you have done this you may have to change the servo arm linkages to your requiremants.....Hope this helps

Hey one more thing that blue battery pack you have in the picture, I found it on EBAY with 11.1v 2200MAH? Is that to much MAH or the more MAH the better, will the longer running time mess up my motor (overheat it) or is it good to have?? What do you recommed??What is your packs MAH? H again ronikki16, The blue lipo battery (on pics) ususlly comes with the 36 as an extra.....they are 2200mah 11.1v and have worked great for me.....(i have heard that they are prone to blowing,swelling and not holding there charge) But even though i and some other people have had no such problems i would reccommend getting a non-chianese made battery as they all seem poor and it's pot luck weather you get a good one or not - from reading post's that is...........as i said, i have had no such problems and if you wish to purchase on of these you can find one on ebay/with a charger for a very reasonable amount.......if you want to get a lipo that is guaranteed to give you a long strong discharge rate go for something like an Align li-po......hope this helps

HI again again........my battery is 2200mah 11.1v.........you've got to have 11.1v for the 36 to run but the higher the mAh the better......remember to check your motor and battery between flights, if they are too hot to touch you should leave them to cool down as you may damage both the motor and the battery......i would recommend upgrading to a brushless setup.....the walkera stock brushless is ok to start and is not underpowerd it does everthing i want see the video above for flight preformance........if you wan't raw power go for the align brushless.......hope this helps too......thanks again

Hey Matt will the # 8 on the trasmitter lock all the trims via. throttle and rudder trim, PZT & PLT trim, and right stick trim?? Basically all trims? Or it only locks the PZT & PLT?? ..I already have the two stock , 680Mah Packs is that good enough or will I have to switch them out all the time(did it get annoying) how long did one 680MAh last for you?..
